I've seen both of those movies. In fact, The Thing is one of my favorite movies ever. There's supposedly a sequel in the works but it will probably be shit.

I know nothing about the Rotten tomato, we have Kinopoisk, the largest film base here and I got used to trust its ratings. Mostly. I'm disappointed in our modern cinematography for long time already, there is nothing really worthy for years.
What I didn't get in this film is idiotic behaviour of the characters, the acting is poor, everything is cliched. They probably tried to plagiarise Life, where Deadpool was killed in the very beginning.
What about The Thing (2011) to The Thing (1982)... It's rather a prequel than a sequel, which was filmed later, because the events in the film are about what happened before that dog got into the American Arctic station. The prequel is much worse, of course.
One of the modern films about the space that I like is First Man (2018) and I still don't get why it wasn't issued much earlier because that flight to the Moon is the significant event for the entire nation, it took so many efforts and the risk of the failure was very high.

The Thing prequel was average. It was ok for what it was and it was neat how the linked the very end to the original.

To me First, the First Man was just ok. It's probably because I'm just not into the cast lol

Not sure if I posted this, but my bf and I have been binging this show on the weekends. It was a bit of a bummer when Ash Vs The Evil Dead ended (that show was phenomenal),but now this one is one of my favorites. Scifi with comedy... love it! I love Alan Tudyk!

I made the mistake of watching the English dubbed version and thought it was terrible.
Then made the switch to native Korean with English subs and the difference was night and day.
Dubbed in English it seemed so badly acted and like watching The Power Rangers.

Enjoyed it though and followed that with the second recommendation in your post.

You can watch it directly or install the "video Download Helper" in Firefox  to download it. 

One episode from Expanse, as example, takes 3 Minutes to download.
