Hi all,
Soon my family will enlarge to 5 members, so I have to find bigger car. Kids are still small and using car seats. Here are some cars I have been looking: Citroen picassa grand (and normal), Renault scenic grand, Peugeot 5008, Chevrolet Orlando, VW Turran, For S max, Honda FRV, Opel ZAfira grandturer....
Your input on functionality and reliability would be highly appreciated
wow, five is a good number, you're the man!
early congratulations in such things is a bad omen in my place, so I would pick some like this

i would look at a few tests RAm, the only reason i dont like french cars, is that they are too expensive to maintain, compared to some others, but this group is more or less similar
i d take ford s max though, best shift, durable engine, if you think of diesel, and a bit sporty , more sporty then others.
The older version of the Zafira had a pretty cheat workmanship. This new one looks a bit better but i would prefer a VW Turran or Peugot 5008, because I have Peugot and it is a very solid car. VW car are solid as well, just a bit more expensive. The Renault also doesn't look so bad. Just read tests and think about what you prefer. I personally would watch out for a car with low consumption and i don't like it when there is too much noise if you drive a bit faster. On long range trips it can be very annoying. The Zafira was pretty loud.
VW Turran
Citroen picassa grand
Renault scenic grand
Peugeot 5008
Chevrolet Orlando
Honda FRV
Opel Zafira
RamYam, in your case, I would recommend you to get a short (3-4 days) vacation to go to car salespeople for test-drives.

When u ask on a BF42 forum, I am obliged to recommend u this:
Enough space for 3 kids on the back seat.
Who knows, maybe he would support the German manufacturer?

Dude, it's no secret, nothing says "pussywipped" more than a guy driving a mini van.

I´m a car mechanic and cant say much about functionality but my impressions about reliability/maintenance:
-citroen: has that nasty habit of puking oil during cold season( freezing breathers)
-renault: electric nightmare, IMO designed to disintegrate after warranty
-peugeot; good but costly (wiper blades 300€ here!!)
- chevy: never heard, maybe not sold here?
-VW: decent, some annoiying habits like central locking and electric window faults, if it´s diesel and/or DSG transmission, take care of service in time and with appropiate oils
-ford: rust and oil consumption were problems early, maybe solved..
-honda:maintenance parts bit pricey but no major flaws( would be my choice if it fits ur needs)
-opel: engine electrics can cause headache, diesels are known to clog intakes, instrument panel and info panel have a tendency to partially fail
All that above is just my impression based on the cars ive serviced/repaired during last years. Mileage, climate and previous service history can make a great difference in reliability.
Thanks maasika, will take this into consideration.
And tookie, yes im pussywiped and for reward i ll get third child
I drive alfa romeo 156 SW now, will hardly switch to minivan, but no choice, need more space
By the way, how's your car, Ramey?
From which page did you resurrect this topic, nameless?
By the way, how are ya RamYam?
You can buy Volkswagen Tiguan,Nissan X trail, Toyota Rav4
At rate he was going, he most likely reached 10 family members by now.
