I downloaded the bf42 HD torrent the other day (dont have original anymore) and just received a DMCA notice from my isp. It's the same torrent I used a couple years ago when I reinstalled it.
Will they be popping me when I open the game or are they just monitoring the torrent tracker?

...
Ya, from torrent.
...
As far as i can understand, the game now is so called Abandonware.
Link to EA games support forum where they mention about this.

I dont understand why they should monitoring if you start a game, thats has no logic at all. Anyway, for the future get a vpn, its better in the long run.

I don't think battlefield classifies as abandonware as the hardware it runs on is still easy to purchase.
For that matter compare here: https://web.archive.org/web/20131123031 … index.html
On the other hand EA was offering it for free on origin a few years ago and hasn't made any other offers available since.
So a DMCA warning seems disproportionate.
