Cutting Silent Moments in Videos

Hello fellow technicians,

I have seen this on many Youtube videos, seems to be a new trend. I would like to remove silence from videos, so that only the parts where someone is actually speaking remains. I know how to do this with audio files (using Audacity), so I am asking here if anyone knows a video editing tool to do the same for videos?

Many thanks.

Re: Cutting Silent Moments in Videos

Thank you for your solution, Volturi, but I am not looking for a tool for music files, rather for videos with long speeches.

Are you referring to a jump cut?

This one seems like a simple tool that was made to specifically do it smile

Thank you, Sunshine, I had heard of that program but I found it hard to install/use. Typical Linux nerdy bullshit program where you have to read lengthy tutorials to get a simple tool to work. I advise everyone against using Linux.

Anyway, this program does the job, so thanks. smile

Re: Cutting Silent Moments in Videos

Just as a side note for anyone who might be interested, I also found the Skip Silence add-on for Chrome, it lets you skip silent parts of videos on the fly, like on YouTube etc.

Saves you a lot of time when you want to listen to people who have a lot of "humm, humm" moments while speaking.

That is the truth. I've built Arch linux from scratch, but getting a basic program to work can be just depressing. Then reading the forums for answers you'll find linux homos get all riled up for daring to ask something.
