Making bots obey radio/voice commands?

Hello everyone, I just registered specifically to make this post. I've been playing on and off for years now but this has been bugging me lately - I clearly remember playing few years ago (though I'm not I'm not sure whether it was on your servers or somewhere else) and being able to take back vehicles from bots by using the "Bail out!" voice command. You could also make them stop by shouting "Wait!". But now this doesn't work and it makes playing with bots extremely frustrating, especially on maps like Cassino where they teleport into all the allied tanks in the first 0,01 seconds and the nearest flag is like 3 days of walking.

Would it be possible to implement something like that on Simple servers? If not, why? Does it have to do with Conquest/ Coop game modes?
It would greatly improve the RR+SW server which relies heavily on bots.

Radio commands like F6-F7 work with bots but only sometimes.Try to repeat these commands 3-4 times, then you'll have more chance the bot will bail out. RtR SW admins team will also consider playing without bots, at least as a try.

Re: Making bots obey radio/voice commands?

Oh hi Paul, thanks for the reply. I clearly remember it used to be much more reliable and now it works as often as winning lottery. It would be really great if someone could fix that.

As for the idea to remove bots, I have mixed feelings about that hmm On one hand they can be disruptive as hell, but the player count is also very low most of the time and some of the larger maps would feel kinda empty without them. And I've also noticed many new players don't even notice there are bots so they don't leave immediately upon seeing an empty server... which helps boost player count.

Perhaps it can be coded so bots are automatically removed only if the player count is above x?

Re: Making bots obey radio/voice commands?

Hi Tommy and welcome to the forum. I noticed exactly the same bot behaviour on our server since 1 or 2 years. Normally F6 F7 worked, when no enemy is spotted by the bot. As you might know, I like driving tanks and so I often used it and I know when it worked and when not. Now it is working nearly never. Something must have happened with the bots programming.

You really live in antarctica? wink

Just disable the damn things already, nobody needs bots to populate servers in this day and age.
