Data differs from server

Hello,

Whenever I attempt to join the SiMPLe server (any one) the game will load then automatically say "Data differs from server".  I have downloaded the 1.61 patch but still get the message.  Does anyone know what the solution to this is?

Did you press "yes" to replace all the files and folders in the game directory?

Are you running Merciless Creations Mod?

Have you ever modded maps within the game?

The data differs error appears when the data you have in your in game files is not the same as those on server, it could be a map or a map mod or a game mod that the server does not know about.
You could try re-installing the entire game to clean up your game directory but it will be a file that is there that should not be.

Yes, replace everything. Just copy and paste to the game folder with bf1942.exe.

Hello,

An easy way is to reinstall game and run BF1942 GameSpy patch afterwards. "Data differs from server" error can be caused by different init.con, contentCRC32.con files, objects.rfa, texture.rfa or even map files.

I had the same exact issue last week with a new computer and was directed by a Member here, to Gamespy for two downloads to patch me in. Its works fine now and I wish we had the two patches prominent on our downloads section. PM me for the Member whom helped me and I may be able to get you more help. I will NOT give out the member name (respect for anonymous) but I may be able to get a copy of the links to you.

Is it possible tuia we can have the link(s) on the downloads page with an explanation "For data differs from Server use this link" denoted in the description to help folks like me who know little about computers but kept on trying?

Hi all,
     Thanks very much for all the info.  As for mods, the only one I have is Forgotten Hope.  I own the Battlefield 1942 complete collection.  Does anyone have any links to the Gamespy patches?
