Modifying BF1942.exe

hi is there a way i can modify bf1942.exe for the master server to re-direct to qtracker's master server? i understand there is a file already for aX, but to be honest I am worried how long aX will stay up, where as qtracker has been running for over a decade i believe.

Hi Kisiel,

You can modify BF1942.exe using an hex editor, HxD for example, and search for string "master.bf1942.sk" and replace it with "master2.qtracker.com". Make sure that string terminates with 00 byte.

Re: Modifying BF1942.exe

You have to do it manually. It does not work automatic search and replace, because it changes file size. My mistake.
So, search for (Ctrl+F) "master.bf1942.sk" string, click on the right column, which has the ASCII representation, then type "master2.qtracker.com" over "master.bf1942.sk". You have to replace 2 times in BF1942.exe.

Re: Modifying BF1942.exe

Then how about to modify the bf1942.exe in order to run Battlefield 1942 smoothly on multiple-core processors? If it's possible, what hex-values needs to be edited?

AFAIK, only one-core per processor are working during gameplay, both lan/online and sp/coop.
