Arrest info released from last night shows 70 something people arrested. Only 4 were from that Ferguson place. Some were from as far as New York, California, and even Canada! Most are being bussed in by certain groups.

One of the people from the town there said that a majority of the people from that place aren't even outside at night because they don't want to be associated with violent groups and dont want to be hurt.

2 people were shot by gang members. 1 guy was also shot at by a store owner because he tried to break in. He ran away

It's not that difficult to realise the final of these riots in Ferguson. Everything will be finished in a few day. Maybe police would please themselves shooting a few negros more, maybe not, but I believe it's impossible to do the same that people did in Kiev, Ukraine. I have more interest in watching and reading news to understand how media represent these riots, telling about "thugs", "blacks", "looters". I want to find some key words and phrases like "peaceful protesters" or "they just want some democracy", but it seems it's not that case to be.

Whaat do you mean? Media here says there are both looters and violent rioters but also peaceful protesters.

Yeah I been there quite a few times. It's in the other part of the state like 10 hours away but I've been there for diff things or going through to get to Toronto. It's a whole different world to me. Detroit is like more than 700,000 but have many more because of suburbs. Biggest city I regularly go to is less than 8,000 people and largest city in this part only has 20,000. So I guess naybe I have a view that may be different compared to if I was used to big cities like that. Idk.

Parts are doing ok I guess. But if you go through neighborhoods you will find many houses or even many city blocks cleared. Just empty land. Many people burn the houses down for insurance money or people burn others down. There are so many gangs in some parts. Police won't even go some places. Fire trucks can't do their jobs because they can't pay for new equipment. Stupid stuff like that. Unions got stpuid contracts and helped make city broke. Like hundreds of thousands of dollars for someone who would normally make like 50 thousand. Corruption, illegal stuff going on in their local government. Just stupidity.

how do you feel, has this incident an influence on sentiments among people in general? some changes in relations, maybe some awkward tension have appeared in society, is there separation in people's opinions, like as its usualy happens, someth like 2 opposite camps; those who think that that cop did act not according the law and must be punished, and those who belives that the cop did act within the law and did what he had to do
in your place many black people live? do you have some black friends?

I wonder what you would think if you had to live in a majority negro neighborhood for a while. Go on a trip to South Africa, Mozambique or Angola, you will see who the real racists are.

I haven't watched it much the past couple days/nights, but they give a little summary on the news. The days are peaceful. A lot of people who live there are helping the store owners clean up glass and broken stuff in their stores and also help clean the streets during the day and a majority of the protesters from that town don't go out at night with the other people. Not last night/this morning but the previous was not so bad until a group started to throw piss bombs (uncapped bottled filled with piss) at the cops. Some people got caught with guns and threatening people with them. I think they said like 40 that night were arrested. Last night/this morning only 6 people were arrested but it was relatively very calm. Black panthers still calling for the death of the guy. This is nothing new. They are always calling for white people to die. Throughout the entire protests since it started almost 2 weeks ago... out of all the arrests... 97% have been people not from Ferguson.

I don't know any black people personally. There are none here except once in a while when there are tourists in nearby areas. There may be some who go to a university a couple hours away, but that's it.

When I do listen to the news on tv or people talking on the radio about it... there are those who want to wait until the facts come out to make a decision but a lot of black people automatically want the cop arrested and convicted. These are the same people who shout "no justice, no peace." Funny since they are not interested in justice. There is ajury that is looking over facts and evidence and will eventually make a decision if the cop should go on trial. I'm not too sure on all the legal stuff going on with that.

Originally the protesters didn't believe the officer was attacked. The officer and some witnesses said the guy charged him and while the cop was getting out of his car the guy pushed him back in and was fighting him and punching him in the face. Protesters didn't believe that. Well the cop has a busted orbit eye socket blowout or something. Like the bones around his eye are busted and some other stuff. So obviously he was beaten. Some news call the guy who got killed a "boy." He was 18yo, 6'4" and 300 pounds. He was more that able to hurt someone I think. The cop doesn't look very big.

Basically we don't know the whole story. But more and more witnesses are saying things similar to the cop's version of events. Even some black people are agreeing with the officer.

Four years ago, I was a private math tutor. I was living in a rather poor town on the outskirts of Paris : 22 out of 25 of my students had immigrant backgrounds. The majority from North Africa and one third from Central Africa.
