Team SiMPLE DOWNLOADED version of BF1942 not working?

Any help trying to get this to work? I dled it from here, and installed.
Cant figure out how to make multi work.
No servers appear on list. Direct connect to this (or any other sever) results in a disconnect.

What did you download? Link, please. I have thoroughly tested it to make sure everything is working.

I downloaded the bf1942 client from here http://team-simple.org/download/Battlefield_1942.zip
and installed it. It never asked for a CD key (is that normal?)

then I downloaded and installed the updated server exe (no gamespy) from here http://forum.bf1942.sk/files/bf1942-v1. … py-fix.zip

then i turned off my firewall, just in case

went onto multiplayer, and hit update (all filters clear) and nothing showed up
then I clicked the direct connect and put in the info for your server, it looked like it was loading then said "unable to connect"
Then I tried the same thing for the AK server, and it was the same

I am running windows 8

You didnt need to dl the gamespy patch. If sk isnt hosting master server anymore that could be the problem

so reinstall the game that I dled from here and then try again?

I've installed game from that link to test and in-game server browser works. If you can't update server list neither direct connect to a BF1942 server it must be something related with your internet connection.

OK, thank you. I tried turning off windows firewall and still nothing. I am able to play other games (on steam) so I dont know whats up.
