BF1942 DC SERVERS

hi all..  just wanted to ask if anyone has a idea why some DC maps crash ?

running a 42 server easy.. no issues there.

created a BF1942 DC SERVER.. and for the most part it runs good. some maps crash... i was reading something to do with the AI for bots.

im running the server in DC mode, in COOP.

ive already found out some maps  crash.    iwo jima / guadalcanal  i think theres a couple more that dont like COOP

Also on the DC SERVER when started and map is selected, this pops up on the interface

"error bf1942/game/common/germannames.con  (33):  game.addsecondnameonteam 1 AI B "
"error bf1942/game/common/germannames.con   Too many arguments, the max no of arguments is 21"

but it still allows the map to run..

i even downloaded another fresh  bf42 complete and added DC files... just incase my files were corrupt.

but, it keeps coming back..

does anyone know what maps run in COOP with Bots.. i have taken 4 maps out..   iwo jima / guadalcanal / berlin / tobruk

google says  maps do crash in DC..   here is what they say...

" Tobruk will work on a Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat (DC) COOP server, but it requires specific conditions to work correctly.Because Tobruk is a vanilla Battlefield 1942 map and Desert Combat is a total conversion mod, loading vanilla maps directly into a DC COOP server usually results in a Server Crash to Desktop (CTD) or broken bot paths (AI navmeshes).

"No, the Berlin map will not work out of the box in a Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat (DC) Co-op/Singleplayer server. Why it doesn't workMissing AI Waypoints: The vast majority of standard vanilla maps (like Berlin or Stalingrad) lack the necessary AI pathfinding data (navmeshes/waypoints) coded specifically for the Desert Combat mod vehicles and weapons.Instant Crash: If you attempt to force the server to load Berlin under the Co-op gamemode while running Desert Combat, the server (or the clients connecting to it) will immediately crash to desktop (CTD) as soon as the map loads or when the bots attempt to spawn."

been looking at it for a bit.. not sure why the names ?

bf1942 server runs great..  just some issues with the DC..

any help would be very much appreciated.  smile

Re: BF1942 DC SERVERS

Hi Grrr!
I used to work with servers running various BF1942 mods myself.
My experience with the co-op versions was that bot usage algorithms hadn't been written for every object, in short, they didn't know how to use them.
The fix that worked for me was removing the objects that caused the map to crash.
I replaced them with classic BF1942 objects.
For instance, the anti-aircraft guns in the DC and DCF mods were typical examples of such objects.

Sincerely,
Millerke

Note: Tobruk worked perfectly for me even when I swapped the two sides, Axis defending and Allies attacking.
