Btw. Anyone had contact with tuia due the past 2 months?
nope, 2021-05-27 last time i had a chat with him.
Fixed some small things, like the repairpads not working, -had to bind the "new" choppers and their ammo nr to the repairpad. Also made the "repair-bubble" bigger so you can hoover a bit over the pads to repair. Made it like this because there always spawns a new chopper on a pad after takeoff, so one cant land on the pad . May need a bit of adjustment to be perfect, but close enough for now.
Sidenote, the Cobra has the same bullet ammo as flettner (basic plane ammo), but the drivers rockets are weaker than flettners. It take about 7-8 rocket-hits to destroy a flettner, but flettner can destroy Cobra with 1 rocket. Made it like this to even the choppers out a bit against each other. The Cobra Gunners position-2 still has org katyusha rockets.
no need to download anything, its just serverside patches.
By playing i guess. When i tried i was alone in server and didnt notice anything different really.
El alamein CTF there was not enough planes.
But i know one person that loves to bail on the airfield and ammobox-spam grenades so that was the perfect setup for him i suppose.
yes and no, i have changed the value as per admin command enabled by dice and it does stick so far until the server reloads efter 10 rounds or change of map.
as to exactly what it does as it is now, nobody can say before its been thoroughly tested
It works ok, but its resets at some point (map reload im guessing). I can set u guys up with a remoteconsole so you can try different settings.
Im curious to as how this commands really works out, it seems to have been forgotten over the years (including myself) but i mean there must have been some reason as to why they did put it in the game from the beginning.
bud wrote:the best performance ive ever got from bf42 server was a dedicated xenon with windows xp, it was in fact such big difference in ingame feeling that some players insisted that the plane engines was modded for more higher torque and speed even that was not the case.
I still would love to see such a server!
Sadly windows is so terribly inconvenient for servers
Long ago there was rumours about xenon cpu´s floating around (better prestanda), but ive never seen any concrete evidence about it.
I have an old idea to try and change the clock crystal on the motherboard to make a sort of variable internal-speed in the machine.
I can change serverspeed via software, but it produce a bit of lag and so its not good in real use case. 1.05 is about the highest before it starts to lag.
One time the server speed tied into the intel speedstep process (CPU frequency scaling) and the weird linux Scaling governors (they like to jump cores witch can reate microstutter i think), so the server randomly speeded up to doubble speed when i was playing. That was unplayable ofcourse, but interestingly i dont think there was any lag from that.
i can try
I bundled all flettner patches to one file. It can be downloaded here http://bfo.pm/maps/
Internet connection over the atlantic seems to be really slow for moment. Hopes it gets better soon.
placing my assets in Malta.
I used to underestimate the load generated by an increased number of pco. Maps with lots of networked information are much laggier than ones with little.
Consequently Battle of Britain and Midway are a mess on simple because of 10 planes on each side, ships + boats and several land vehicles...
You can try change the connection speed if you havent tried that already.
I get it can be tempting to set it to highest possible, but if you do that you are gonna get more data for the game to process.

Lilla lovis försvann visst.
I played three or four maps in a row Omaha and Britain and it worked flawless. Im not sure exact how many players there was tho. Ill make a lill vid next time if i remember.

https://youtu.be/jx5eBgHgFjsI was looking forward to this, but I really hope it picks up because it's just "meh" so far.
Its not looking good with two episodes unwatched for me so far, with some shows i can hardly wait until next episode cames out (the expanse for example).
Just a lill update from the north. Server feels nice and smooth with 50-60+ players. Ping looks steady and overall the server doesnt seemed stressed or bogged down in any way.
