Ah and if you can start the safe mode: In my opinion it should be possible to delete just the updates of a programm, there is somewhere a box which you have to tick to see the updates but I am not sure, I worked last time with XP 4-5 years ago

Well make it more simple, do you have the possibility to use a mac? If the hard disk has a virus, you would not have any problem with a mac and then you can check it

To your first question. I have totally no problems with bf and win8. I do not even need the compatibility mode.
There is just a small problems i can not switch from bf to desktop. Xfire etc., then it crashes but besides that i did not even had one single crash while playing.

Windows 8.1 can be downloaded at thursday, 1 pm. As i read some interesting changes will come with this update

Onzer is right, the start screen is annoying but i dont use it. The big advantage is that the performance is much better than windows 7. it is pretty fast. Design is nice aswell and you do have some more senseful functions. Compard to windows 7, windows 8 is much better. And you can not compare it with xp cause it is a total different system.

And i guess the most newer hardware will just work with windows 8.

Brw george the chat is not there to do random talking therefore you can use xfire, pm on forum whatever but not the official ingame chat, cause thats not made for private talking. No offense towards you but you do it pretty often and it annoys few players.

Well my opinio is that it does not make so much sense: Just in 2 maps it would maybe helpful, stalin and berlin but the most guys who play longer than 3 month would not use it.

And the other thing is that this will be quite impossible from technical side. You have to make a total new patch which takes months to create and noone would download it and the server owner would not change the server settings aswell...

For XP you do not have the autotuning thing "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled", as far I know. Vista was the first system which came with it.
