U may need to talk with EA ?
EA doesn't own that IP, whois says it belongs to IGN although Glu bought Gamespy from IGN some time ago (so it's actually unclear who operates that server)
GameSpy was acquired by IGN in 2000; by 2014, its services had been used by over 800 video game publishers and developers since its launch. In August 2012, the GameSpy Industries division (which remained responsible for the GameSpy service) was acquired by mobile video game developer Glu Mobile. IGN (then owned by News Corporation) retained ownership of GameSpy's publishing assets. In February 2013, IGN's new owner, Ziff Davis, shut down IGN's "secondary" sites, including GameSpy's network. there's one possible problem with the origin replacement, i had a guy PMing me few days ago that he started getting constant crashes after the replacement (the usual vista/7/8 problems).
now i currently do not know whether the original origin exe has some fixes for that (this origin replacement is based on cd version) or whether origin client does something when it's starting it but in this case changing hosts might be "safer" - otherwise you have to do stuff like setting compatibility mode for exe or whatever will work

i don't mind any of those but direct linking the files has the advantage that if i'd have to replace them with some fixed versions, i wouldn't have to hunt where else it's mirrored

not sure what you mean, i plan to create some simple dynamic table for http://master.bf1942.sk with the server entries from master with some links like bf1942:// and whatnot (gotta find out first what different launchers are there)

then we'll see

Question for developers on this board:
Is there a possibility to bypass game spy server cracking a specific file in BF1942? Or is this specified impossible because we need some kind of "pirate server" to see hosted games for BF1942? I mean something like PvPGN? http://pvpgn.berlios.de/index.php?page=about
bypassing is easy, can be done via hosts file (changing ip for master.gamespy.com) or by editing the .exe file and replacing that string there (preferably in some already modified version like that widescreen one that has some checks patched)
i actually hacked together a master server replacement few weeks ago to test whether it's feasible, still needs dynamic server registration added but that's trivial (currently it sends a predefined list of servers to clients)
