Also one can synthesis gold smile

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthesis … etals#Gold

Only the mercury isotope 196Hg, which occurs with a frequency of 0.15% in natural mercury, can be converted to gold by slow neutron capture, and following electron capture, decay into gold's only stable isotope, 197Au.

Hm there seem to be a unwillingness to some degree to use the science available, or how i should put it, for example the research in fusion tech have been hold back here (in sweden) for decades. Now fusion will never be some free energy source, but with the type they are using now they only use about 1% of the energy in the fuel. As i understand it, they could build reactors that could run on the waste and with much higher effeciency and thus render the waste product down.

Breeder reactors could, in principle, extract almost all of the energy contained in uranium or thorium, decreasing fuel requirements by a factor of 100

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breeder_r … lear_waste

Scientifists here has been trying to get permit (also for ages) to build a research reactor (thorium i think), they finally got a go, but then we got a new guvernment after the selection 2014 and they immediatelly shut it down first thing. Those guys didnt give up tho, but moved the whole project to Canada where they where welcomed with open arms.

Then we have China witch have understand how important energy is for a country, they are building nuclear powerplants and solarpanels and waterpower as fast as they can possibly do it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Gorges_Dam

More about Thorium if your interested

Thorium power has other attractions, too. Its production of nuclear waste would be orders of magnitude lower than conventional nuclear power

Lan doesnt check for keys, it doesnt announce to master server but you can always connect directly if you know the adress and port nr.

Its propably like SucceededKiller suggested that they built in some extra checking tool in bfv server, no reply back = no dice. Anyway glad you got it goin, nice there are still people taking some time to fix things for this old games.

I "cheat" a little by using Gnome, its probably a sacrilege for all "true" linux nerds out there, but for me it saves a lot of time (and troubble)

Its like communicating with smokesignals.

Just of curiosity i tried starting my server directly from the static file, and it does start, also it it shows up in TOP as a running process, so i think im done in this thread now.

I dont think you have to block the gamespy port as that server no longer exists anyway, i think you dont need key for lan mode so you could try that (should be able to connect by ip and port)

What I must do?

add this in your linux  servers host file

94.23.196.155 master.gamespy.com

edit: may have to reboot the server for it to take affect, i cant remember for sure.

Yeah its cool, its not cost effective in the video (those radiovawes use to much power) but maybe sometime in the future someone gets another idea that could move things forward.

If you are on a 64bit system you need to have i386 libs installed to.

Ill bet its your config files thats not set correctly, you can either do this manually, look in mods/bd1942/settings folder and you will see files like maplist.con, serverautoexec.con etc, most important is that the right IP and ports are set and that there is a map for the server to start with.

#! /bin/sh

# launch binary
exec ./bf1942_lnxded $@

-------------------

Or just google on bfsm for linux. its much easier.

#1759 Re: Technical Help » Bf1942 Server Error » 2016-08-17 03:21:00

have you chmod file permissions?

i dont think anyone runs the server directly like that, config files must be set first with correct IP and ports, maps etc. it much be easier to use the battlefield server manager beacause it has a graphical interface that is really easy to understand, also it tells you if there is anything wrong with the config files.

if you dont like the bfsm for some reason, then you can still use it to set up the configs and then kill the process and run the server files manually.

edit: as i understand it, the start.sh build the symlink and after that you dont need it anymore, better make your own script then you can add more parameters.

You have 4 in latency and still gets disconns, its very hard to find info on there site but according to a review site they have "Tier-1 Network – Multiple 10gbps uplinks per location, 1gbps per server"

Packet fragmentation, to big mtu forces the packets to split. If you dont know the overhead (dsl, cable, fiber etc) its better to test directly to the server.
Simple IP, mtu forced locked

The problem is mostly for when there is only one connection made between client/server, modern browsers usually opens a number of connections to speed things up. Also this values can be set in the server depending on the application software (typical Apache for webservers).

I rather adjust MTU manually to avoid packet fragmentation with udp (Gaming).
