As Syndrum said, clean install is best. Unhappy with your current Windows?
Win10 is flawless for me, now that the damn power save/screen saver works.
No BF crashes, except for the occasional ALT-TAB switch to desktop.

overtaken with teamkillers. That "ask jesus" kid was tank camping in hanger killing team & planes..
Those actions would be a permanent ban back in the days of my server.

A player today 12/22/2015 was using the name GetWellSoon today on the USA server.
He was tking/wounding like crazy on the Axis team map tobruk.
He also claimed to be an admin of the FRA server.
several regs were there that can back that up.
You might want to checked the chat logs.
I was one of the unfortunate victims of that mess Blade. There was a tank spraying me
while heading down the runway. I looped back and took it out. Didn't know it was a
teammate. He kept attacking all of us so I left the game. Punk ass kids..

For the settings to "come back on their own" without you explicitly restoring them, my expectation is that the settings files had become written to "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\...".
