What you need to play Freelancer Crossfire (CF is in HD or up to 2560x1440)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

> a PC. (Freelancer incl. CF doesn't need a up to date PC. It runs also well on a 8 year DualCore with an aged GC.

(the upcoming CF Mod 2.0 will be fully compatible with CF 1.9 SP and MP)

Installation
-------------

1. Freelancer 1.0 (no patches, nothing else, then the maingame)

2. FLMM (FreelancerModManager 1.31)

3. Crossfire 1.9

After the Installation of CF, FLMM should start automatic. (If not, start FLMM and activate CF).

4. Now configure CrossfireMod 1.9 and save it. (Now the real Installation will be done).

(I recommend two things > 1st = Original Hud and > 2nd = HudColor (blue) from Original Game). The newer Huds and other colors are not usefull inGame) The rest as you like. Then you chose also if you want to play Original SP or Open SP. (Open is only the new CF Story.) I recommmend > Original Sp. (CF Story starts automatic after the end of the OriginalStory.)

5. Now save it and start CF Mod from FLMM

Important > Allways let the launcher update itself. The first time, it will dl ~190 files. It take 30 sec.s or so. Now start only short MP and exit again. After the Game shuts down...

6. Start the Game again, but this time you use the new generated Link on your Desktop.

(The Launcher changed. If you can't see any buttons, doubleclick on the bar of the launcher, now it will bi maximised. (it's only working with a dblclick on the upper bar.))

Remember > Let allways load the launcher. It will take only some seconds.

7. Start SP (i recommmend SP, so you can learn the game, flying, fighting, etc.

8a. > Have fun... and remember > All actions inside the SP or Mp have effects. If you fight some factions some other will like that, but others not, and some of them will try to hunt you down... fight them...

8b. > Beginn the game, (it's fantastic), and follow (in original SP) the first 2 houres the story line. But, when you get the codes for the Jumpgates, begin to explore the systems, visit stations... fight enemys, take jobs, etc. etc.

9. Allways beam Fleepods and all materials in your ship. Sell it, but the pods only sell in prisons. After around 1h you get the Codes for the liberty Systems. Then you go to sell your Pods on the HuntsvillePrison (System Texas). If you can find the Dromedar Freighter, buy it, it has 270 Storeroom and it's well armed. Then fight enemys for pods and sell them, until you have 8Mio. Then buy the "Stormcrow" or "The Comodo Dragon". But you could also buy an "Eagle", one of the best ships in the game,  only for ~500'000, but it's a bit far away. Forget the other ships.

10. Keep in mind. After some missions, you will get the codes for all systems. It's around Level 7-9 or so. This is the moment to fly out, and to explore all the systems, fight heavy enemies, find better equipements, because after Level 16 you can't leave the following storyline. I played a lot more then 100 Houres, before i was Level 16.

I fought 2100 EnemyShips until i reached Level 11. Until the end of Original SP and CF Story i fought ~8000+ Ships, including battleships etc. But the best fights i had against ~8-16 FighterAces in SP around Level 9 or later against 4-16 Aces. I can tell you, if you like FPS or FPS and flying... you will like it...

If you can read german, i recommend my diary. There you find links for all Maps of the universe, tipps for ships, equipements and links to sites about ships, equipements etc.

Remind... Freelancer is from 2003, but don't underestimate it. It's a challenging FPS, also very nice and one of the best games ever. ... and with CF Mod it's much better, then maaany or most new games. It looks like an up to date game, but completly lag free, all runs smooth etc, etc.

If you have, specially on x64 Systems, once some Launcher failures, then let the launcher close from Windows and restart it again. If this does not help, start FL from the folder (searched by Link on Desktop). After some trials it will work then and will also in future. From time to time, it can happen, that the launcher fails to start. Let it close again automatic by windows and restart it as explaned.

There is one last thing.
--------------------------

1. In the fight only one thing counts beside skill. After the beginning, as far you have the chance, use on Pulseweapon. If you have a Pulsegun, there are only two things, which counts > biggest Armordamage and same projectilspeed of all guns.

2. Allways mount weapons with same ProjectilSpeed. Ther's a big difference, when you mix them. On the other side WeaponRange isn't to important. (I recommended some settings in my diary.)

3. For SP you need rockets and torpedos only far far, far later, against Ancients after xx or xxx houres or so.

One last thing.

Once, you played MP you spould save your CharID. It's only saved on your PC and when your HD crashes or the game get's corrupted, you could lose probably your progress. To find out, how your CharID is, doubleclick the file "myflaccountid.hta" in your Freelancer Folder, ("...\Freelancer\EXE\myflaccountid.hta") and save it somewhere.

Besides... If you fly with keyboard and mouse, it helps a lot to config "t = up" and "z = down" (for curves with keyboard and mouse).
