So essentially, what I get from this topic is the server version has nothing to do with differences in hit registrations, the OS does.

Where will the server be located? New York or nearby is a good tradeoff for European based players.

I might allow a maximum of two European teams and a server will be provided for them perhaps, but I’m still working out stuff. More definitive info will come soon.

It’s one of the DC theme songs, I believe it plays when a map loads.

You could check the credits for DC in the main menu and see who produced the song, perhaps there’s a name there.

Back on topic: we have 15 spots left.

fortunately there is still the clan server for the bf1942 matches.... everything is fine on this server.

I wonder what have we done 20 years without these experiments...

If the whole thing really brings an improvement for everyone, I'm curious about the end result.

The same thing happens to me after picking an enemy medic kit, although I have this problem on Moongamers as well. What I do is just reload and the problem goes away.

Hint :

The main reason for Simple's decline in population has got nothing to do with hit registrations, latencies, server quality.

So far, I’ve only seen me and the the Simple server founder come up with the correct answer - long time ago - but now even an average child should be able to guess it.

There are many reasons explaining the decline in SiMPLE's server population. The war in Ukraine is one, but it isn't the only one.

The graphs you presented only show that when there is a decline in one of the big three servers, other servers see an increase in their average player numbers. In other words, a hole is dug to fill another hole.

This is clearly seen when aX starts its steep decline around February 2021. What happens next? Well, most players, looking for an alternative server in Europe, migrate to SiMPLE. A few might have migrated to Moongamers also.

When the SiMPLE average player number starts to drop in February 2022, you can see that Moongamer's average player numbers starts to increase as well. This means that yes due to the war some players disappeared (we hope they are OK), but some of them also migrated to Moongamers during that time. This is corroborated by the account of many players on SiMPLE and players from Europe I see in Moongamers, fed up with the mods and wanting to try a new server.

Also I've already said, you need to clean up your data to remove artificial player drops caused by map changes on a server. Some of the data points in your graphs might be wrong because of it.

tldr: To be able to truly say that players have left the game due to the conflict alone, you would have to look at a chart showing global player numbers vs time (henk's graph). If the same trend is observed, then yes you could say that the war was the cause of that player drop since February 2022. Otherwise you are just showing us charts of players migrating from one server to the other.

Nice, this is pretty cool.

Also, for when you click on a server and it shows the graph of the number of players vs the map played, perhaps instead of a line graph you could convert it to a pie chart like how it's done in GameTracker? Other than than, great work as usual.

I am looking for serious competitors to play in a small infantry-only competition hosted in Desert Combat. This mod was chosen for its excellent infantry adapted maps, some of which are far superior to the vanilla BF1942 infantry maps.

If you are going to crack under pressure and not follow through with the matches, do NOT join this event!

A prize will be handed out to the winning team.

The format of the competition will be the following:

- 2v2 Conquest
- Infantry-only
- The mod will be Desert Combat, with an infantry-conversion mod adapted for small combat areas
- Knockout competition with 8 teams, starting at Quarter Finals
- Matches consist of two maps, two rounds per map and 20 minutes per round
- 125 tickets per round
- The cup live date will be posted once 16 players are registered (2 players per team)
- The server will be hosted in North America, but European players can join
- The server will have PunkBuster
- Every contestant must record their gameplay and submit their recordings to me at the end of each match

More information will be given soon. I am still working on a date that works for as much people as possible.

We are currently in the registration phase. For more information on how to register, please join the Discord (link below).

The start date will be July 29th, 2023.

We did notice, along with so many others. They just didn't understand and thought it was either their connection or the server quality, much like it is now. It's only logical, without any information, nobody would guess the bad hit regs are a direct cause of modding done to the server. The "fire deviation patch" was an abomination, that should be clear from the videos and the description it had.
I don't feel like being the test dummy for the weekend and wasting my time after seeing these mods being put on and then you hop in the server to ask us if we "can't aim anymore?" Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining

this one gives me a  checksumm error when tis tarts bf1942.exe, i think because i use the High-Definition Remaster mod.
What you aslo could is if you install 1.6, make a copy of the battlefield bf1942, past it somwhere, and then install 1.61, the pasted bf1942 1.6 should work i think.

Changes between 1.6 and 1.61 arent big think, i gues a security fix. I gues it cuold be that 1.61 (regs) are performing less that 1.6 but i dont think its very likely becasue of its seems a small update.

I think the the regs on a windows server are better than on linux server, the linux server uses 15% cpu usage on one core, without playes or bots, bf1942_w32ded server with wine on linux usess like a few percent.

bud wrote:

as you propably know already, linux bf42 server has something running that takes ca 15% cpu constantly players or no players in it, i believe this is allocated network resources of some kind that has a fixed value. the windows version of bf42 server starts with 0% cpu
so if my theory is right the strain should be much harder on a linux machine when there is a lot of players as it cant scale up those particular resources. that being said this is just me theorising

I did some testing with some to get the the windows server on linux working with wine worknig. i tested it first without gui, the server exe worked, but the server manger not, it needs a gui, with gui, the server manger started. i dont rember why the server manager didt work corectly with the bf1942_w32ded, it could not start bf1942_w32ded or the manger could not conect with remote control. I wanted it to work on a cheap vps to get some mods running wich didt work on linux version, and test if had better regs. it wasn't going to work with a server manager so i stopped with it.

This can explane why you had beter regs back in the day, the demos didt have a linux server version, maybe when you played on 1.6 there where more windows servers, or you played most of you time on some server that where windows servers.

Interesting theory. Yes I do remember the lack of Linux servers in SW Demo.

What we could do to determine what causes hit registration differences would be to host two servers located in the same location, to control for ping. The first test will be to see if there is a difference between server versions (1.6 vs 1.61), controlled by server platform (so both servers are on Windows for example). If there is indeed a difference, then it is caused by the server version.

The second test would be the opposite: testing two different server platforms (Windows vs Linux) on the same server version to see if server platform has an effect on hit registrations. If there is a difference in hit regs, then it would be caused by the platform.

#377 Re: BF1942 Discussion » Infantry hit registrations and Battlefield 1942 versions » 2023-06-07 01:49:31

It would be nice to have a comparison of the change logs for all the Battlefield 1942 versions since 1.0.

But to answer your question, hit regs would be compared between a 1.6 and 1.61 server by recording a player shooting at another player running perpendicular to the person filming. Then, in a video editor, slowing down the clip sufficiently and checking the crosshair hit indicator to see if there is any visible difference in the number of bullets hitting the running player between versions.

Both servers would need to be hosted in the same place to control for ping. Only two people are needed for this.

fyi simon and deeko are two different persons. So you are pretty much adressing the wrong person.

Furthermore this is a liga matter and should be adressed in the liga discord or forum, preferrably with a proper protest.

My 2 cents, the only thing unfair this liga season were:
- take off kills from a certain team in 2 different wars
- a certain team playing for both sides in a match

I know they’re two different persons smile

I’m talking about Simon here, but yeah you’re right this is a BF League matter.

I would like to test hit regs in a 1.6 server, which from memory are much better than 1.61/1.612.

Also, from memory, v1.45 (BF1942 SW Demo) hit regs are also more consistent than 1.61/1.612. Anyone up for testing can PM me.

For Simon, yes, it’s guilty until proven innocent. He cheated, end of story. Doesn’t matter if it happened last week or 10 years ago. When he says he no longer cheats, how are we supposed to believe him? Just take his word for it?

It’s on him to show us he’s clean, by recording all his gameplay, at the very least in clan wars.

@simon: I don’t think it’s wise to compare your cheating with henk’s case. I don’t know about cranberry, so can’t talk on that. You cheated purely for malicious purposes.

henk used the wall hack in order to catch other hackers, it wasn’t a selfish intention and it was for the greater good. You could compare it with an undercover agent infiltrating a gang to bring down its leader. Not the best way of doing it, but it still works.

That being said all cheating is bad, no matter what the reason for it was.

I don’t know what brand your monitor is, but with mine I can disable widescreen mode when I play BF1942 by pressing a button close to the power button. I find it very helpful to play in a 4:3 resolution which is what the game was intended for. If you do this, you will not need to have a high fov.

There are no “secret regs”. Don’t mind DoubTi, he is just trolling.

One needs to take pills to deal with the mess your clan keeps creating on the forums. Can’t you talk to them or something?

Simon cheated (and probably still does occasionally), this is no secret, and yet you have him in your clan.

I run 2460 x 1440 @ 165fps vSync enabled, FOV is 1.33

tips?

In infantry situations, shoot small bursts to the head and upper body of your enemies.

Also, is your FPS capped at 165 FPS? I suggest not to do so. You can edit your VideoDefault.con file to remove the FPS limit. If you don’t know how just PM me.

I would also suggest disabling VSync so you can squeeze a few extra FPS. But if you do that, prepare to have a shit ton of screen tearing.

Last thing is to lower your FOV. The absolute maximum should be 1.2, anything higher than that is too high. Alternatively you can leave the FOV at 1 and change your resolution to something more suitable, ie, a 4:3 resolution. But that’s up to you.

Good luck!
