Hello guys,

As you know I am building a website about the Battlefield 1942 Secret Weapons of WWII Demo.
The site will be complete with A to Z information about the game.

On top of that, it will have a live server query page similar to BFTracks.net's, where you can view which servers are online.

The website will have a server unique to it as well. I have kindly asked tuia if he would be interested in hosting a server for me, from SiMPLE, as I cannot do it myself due to an insufficient upstream bandwidth. The server will be hosted in the Battlefield 1942 Secret Weapons of WWII Demo.

If there are some financial contributions to be made for the server, I would also bring some aid.

The reason why I asked tuia is because of the now huge notoriety of the SiMPLE servers, which have an enormous clientele which competes fiercely with MoonGamers. I am willing to give this a test run of about a month. When the server goes live, there will be a special introductory night where all can join and experiment the map.

I think many on those forums don't have the SW expansion pack and would be thrilled of trying the Hellendoorn map. Plus it's free, since it's a demo. We will see how many players the server can attract when it is live. If there is a lack of interest then there is no need to keep it live. But I think this should work pretty well, given that SiMPLE has a faithful player base.

At the moment I am writing this message, tuia should be fixing the Linux files for the SW Demo, which runs on v1.45 of the Battlefield 1942 engine.

I am willing to link your website on mine and advertise for it as well if the head admins of SiMPLE are willing to make a mutual alliance with me. This mutual alliance would include beneficial help from my community or yours to either communities for server hosting, special events such as tournaments, cups, and mod testing as well.

Tell me what you think!

I have a course I'm taking at college which is an introduction to making simple websites with HTML5 and CSS.

Yes, the site borrows a few elements from the menu.rfa file of the SW Demo. I think it would look nice like that and would give it the typical Battlefield look.

@Nathan: I'm still learning the CSS code as this is written.

For those that have extensive knowledge in building websites, I would like to know if  I could get a hand with building a live server query on my webpage. I have to know PHP for that and know absolutely nothing of it.

Fortunately, there are some PHP scripts that have already been written for that (GameQ server library is the one I'll use). I just don't know how to include those scripts on my HTML file.

This is a small website project I'm working on for the SW Demo. It's basic HTML formatted with CSS.

Tell me what you think. The index.html file looks like this. The whole thing is still a work in progress for now, I will post pics as it is updated.

#3365 Re: BF1942 Discussion » What's your favourite weapon(s) in BF1942? Pros and cons » 2013-02-21 02:42:40

In full vanilla BF:

- Thompson for accuracy, by far, don't really see any cons with it
- MP40 for inflicted damage. A con is it's really noisy
- MP18 seems to inflict less damage than the MP40, but is less loisy
- Type99 is extremely powerful but slightly innacurate
- The Japanese Engineer rifle is very efficient in close quarters combat. Also efficient for shooting enemies from a distance. Still very noisy and has annoying recoil

In full SW:

- Bren LMG is the most accurate LMG in the expansion and the whole game by far. Bullets connect magicly to your enemy whatever the distance, especially from far. Less noisy than the FG42 that the Germans have, and it does more damage and is more accurate than it too
- The Allied Engineer shotgun, extremely efficient versus close targets, but also very noisy
- The Axis Engineer Mauser K98 mounted grenade, extremely efficient versus infantry at close ranges, but also light tanks, jeeps and APC
- The Sten light machinegun for the Allied medic, very stealthy, extremely quiet, but does less damage than the German counterpart and is extremely inacurate from a distance. Too much recoil also
- The automatic sniper rifle for the Axis, does the same damage as the No4Sniper, seems to be slightly more accurate too. No reload in the middle of a firefight too since it's automatic

In RTR:

- The mounted bayonet on the engineer kits is pretty stealthy... but that is all and it's useless in a firefight
- The Breda machinegun for the Italian assault is quiet, does a steady amount of damage but is not really useful for long range targets
- The modified Sten for the French medic is very quiet, pretty accurate and works well for a lot of targets in a close range

There should be a sudden death round to determine the winner still...

It's almost as if you had a draw at the FIFA WC final...

Very nice match, kept me on my toes the whole time. Didn't expect a tie at all.

Thank you Timmos, BLame was casting for the <TnS> vs inVictus. match I think nameless.

I'm looking at the live stream right now, why am I seeing inVictus.god vs <TnS>?

Btw tuia check your email inbox smile

Hello bidji91, did you use to play the SW Demo by any hope? Your name is familiar to me.

#3371 Re: Videos and Screenshots » [Live Stream] pas42 vs. GUN|BF today at 20:30 CET » 2013-02-17 19:34:13

I have no idea what is either teams' roster. I would go with GUN|BF though, that's what my instinct tells me. They seem to be very strong tankers and Bulge is a tanking map by excellence... just my two cents.

As for Battleaxe I would still go for GUN|BF, but they would win only with a slight edge.

A hero for the game he is lol.

I noticed the player limit was raised by ten, to 110? If you can pull off 110 you are my idol.

IIRC the highest limit for BF1942 is 256 players online.

I wish one day tuia can figure out a workaround to make the network info of the server capable of handling that many players all at once. That would be pure magic.

I don't know who runs or manages this server, but he/she has my uttermost respect.

Over the last few days I've seen some breathtaking infantry action montages on YouTube, I thought I would share here for people who need inspiration:

Sommarel. Some amazing strafing and mouse handling from this guy:

Simon. Seems to master the art of bugging, but has some spot on aiming:

Here's another video by him, sniper actions:

Henrik, great sniping skills and good mouse movement:

And of course, lachesis, which masters infantry entirely:

Third logo looks ok but it's still missing some elements in my description...

Hi, for my community I would like to have a neatly done banner.

If anyone would like to help me with this I would really appreciate it. I myself have no talent or time for designing banners and graphics.

The dimensions for the banner would be 120px by 640px. Text font would be similar to the font on the Battlefield 1942 case when you buy it at the store. The text would read "Battlefield 1942 Central", in white to grayish letters. Text logo is pierced by bullet holes.

Background image on which the text will be is a mash up of the 4 different theaters in Battlefield 1942 war theaters (Pacific, Europe, Africa, Russia).

That's about it... Any takers?

#3380 Re: News and Announcements » SiMPLE servers back on BF Tracks » 2013-02-15 05:41:36

IIRC BF Tracks stopped updating stats and is just showing cumulative stats from 2010? Or since when the ASE master server was shut down in '09 I think...

#3381 Re: BF1942 Discussion » How to build a notorious community from scratch » 2013-02-15 03:56:53

Battlefield 1942 Central [24/7].

How about that? It's simple, clean and easy to remember.

#3383 Re: BF1942 Discussion » How to build a notorious community from scratch » 2013-02-14 15:07:05

Thanks, sounds pretty epic.

I want something with an official look, that still catches the eye.

i'm wondering where is that clientele hiding now, with hundreds of empty servers in server browser and simple (although modded and not german) being the only decent euro server ;-)

1) My server is not a home server, it has excellent latency
2) It is hosted 24/7, and so available all the time for players
3) The server's name is very catchy, all the information is in the name (name of community, amount of time it is live, location, and whether it's modded or not)
4) The server is hosted in central Europe and so caters to an enormous clientele of European players
5) A good team of dedicated admins which makes sure game play on the server is OK for everyone

Good admins will take care of that problem.

@dary: Yes, there is a huge clientele there, server should be occupied by, I'd say, 16 to 24 players most of the time. Fantastic!

#3387 Re: BF1942 Discussion » How to build a notorious community from scratch » 2013-02-10 18:28:53

I am Black Mamba, but with an improved attitude.

@dary: Server will be Pure smile.

The server should be hosted in the spring of 2013.

It will be called "Battlefield 1942 Central [24/7] |Pure - EU|". Server will be hosted in Frankfurt, Germany by Game Servers. v1.61. PunkBuster. Default settings. No noobs, no tkers and idiots.

Admins are always wanted and most welcomed.

When it goes live a special introductory night will be hosted, and posted on these forums.

However, I am not here to try to "steal" players from SiMPLE to make them join my community (not going to happen anyway), I'm just letting you guys know about it, that is all. You do what you want.

This website seems to have gained a solid notoriety, I was just curious on how it happened.

For years I have tried to build my own Battlefield 1942 slash Battlefield 1942 SW Demo community but haven't quite done it.

I guess it is always wiser to host a server first, see it attract clientele then build a forum or website around it to have even more visibility. The server should never be a home server unless the upstream bandwidth is sufficient.

I would always opt from a paid game server host such as GameServers.com or LowPingGameServers.net.

32 slots, hosted in Germany, Europe, normal settings, no mods, 24/7, PB, full map rotation. Then once I see the server is 50% to 75% full most of the time, build a forum and website around it to appoint admins and stuff...

Your two cents?
