Welcome to Battlefield 1942, simon. Press "K" key to chat. That is just Battlefield 1942 buggy physics, you get damage from going down the stairs.

Why do I have to babysit you, estonian brothers? You come up with all these weird theories. you are already grown men, i don't have to answer all your why questions. Just a friendly reminder, do not forget to reload the gun if the server is not regging.

What happened in February 2022?

Instead of writing these wall of texts, take the blind test and give your feedback, please. You will be surprised with the results. smile

Don't forget to play test today and tomorrow, just for a few minutes, and give your feedback, please. Oh and by the way, it is raining.

#278 Re: Technical Help » Any tutorial to run a BF1942 server on Linux? » 2023-06-10 10:35:51

You can place bfsmd binary anywhere, just run it in the directory of your Battlefield 1942 server. There are other options, you have to read the manual.

Your Battlefield 1942 server ought to have a static IP address, if it is always changing your players won't realise it.

Albania is a third world country and has no significant history or culture nor personalities, besides that whore Dua Lipa. You have a bad reputation throughout Europe, you are known as beggars and thieves. You have to look yourself hard in the mirror, first.

I would love to, but it is indeed a security risk. That is another story for a different topic.

This kind of approach is questionable at best. How could anyone give feedback to something that is not done with transparency?
One day something was done, another day something was done or maybe not done at all. People have unstable connections to the server, different computers and infrastructure around their block. All this could give a different experience for a player each day.
To me it sounds like a plan to get people to play, which should actually be the main goal. But instead there is this huge secrecy.

Where did this discussion start anyway? Would it even be a topic if the reg shenanigans wasn't brought up by us, which at first was called ''negativity'' by some people. Yet here we are, something was done to the server way before anyone could even think about it, even the head admins didn't know about it and the population was declining fast.

Perhaps give players the name of each mod/change and what it is supposed to improve and name the date it will be turned on. So far this has just been a rabbit chase without any concrete evidence. I'm surprised it didn't occur to anyone.

The purpose of this blind test is so that your biased opinions cannot influence the outcome of the results. After the test, I can reveal the conditions of the test to anyone who is interested.

For decades the servers worked fine, with hit registration being the last subject of discussion. It's the recent experience, that people have seem to have disliked. I doubt aX ran any "reg mods" to have such clean hit registration. The best regs i've had, have been in quality servers, clean of any mods, usually German servers.

I am really curious to know what day you prefer and if that does indeed back up your claims. smile

I agree. If I haven't made the mistake to tell the estonian brothers about a mod, they would never notice it and make a drama about this.

I am sorry about that, all download links have to be reviewed to have the latest releases.

In BFRemoteManager in the Admin tab make sure you have Enable Remote Console box ticked.

#286 Re: BF1942 Discussion » Infantry hit registrations and Battlefield 1942 versions » 2023-06-09 00:03:13

There is almost no difference from BF1942 servers v1.6 to v1.61, it was indeed released because of a security fix. Also, BF1942 Linux server v1.61 was compiled with debug information, unlike BF1942 Linux server v1.6. I don't believe you will find any difference in hit registrations between v1.6 and v1.61 because the server code is practically the same. However, there is a difference between BF1942 Windows server and BF1942 Linux server, the server code is more optimized in the Windows version, because the Windows compiler (Visual Studio) was better at the time than the Linux compiler (gcc) and they probably used optimization flags in the compilation of BF1942 Windows server, unlike BF1942 Linux version which was released as debug with no optiinizations. In addition, have in mind that the BF1942 Linux server was ported from the BF1942 Windows server code base, and there was probably some bugs introduced because of that, there is one, at least, I have noticed.

#287 Re: Technical Help » Game Issues And Tools To Fix Them » 2023-06-08 23:30:56

It is not the server, but you can play test in other BF1942 servers, just to make sure. I would reinstall the game, it will probably be an easy fix.

#288 Re: BF1942 Discussion » Russian new server » 2023-06-08 23:19:56

What do you mean by illegitimate son of Netorn?
I remember fondly playing in Netorn and BF1942.ru russian servers.

#289 Re: Technical Help » Any tutorial to run a BF1942 server on Linux? » 2023-06-08 23:13:51

There is for Linux and I can probably patch it to work with 128 players in Windows. But why would you need it for 128 players? Can you gather that number of players in a server? smile

Looks like simon just did the admin's work, killing a teammate who used a jeep to get to the plane first. A warning would be sufficient, although i disagree with the taxi rule.

#292 Re: Off-Topic » Normandy landings - 6th of June, 1944 » 2023-06-07 00:39:43

Great post, Millerke! Thank you for remembering this day. D-Day stands for Devil's-Day, the attack was launched on day 6, month 6, at 6 o'clock in the morning. It was a baseless attack in fortified areas, just to cause as much bloodshed to both sides. The war was already lost for Germany in the Western front, with the advances from the south-belly in Italy, not to mention the collapsing and retreating Eastern front.

#293 Re: BF1942 Discussion » Infantry hit registrations and Battlefield 1942 versions » 2023-06-07 00:23:43

Which server versions do you want to test? From reading the BF1942 changelog, I think hit system was changed from version 1.3 onwards. I don't think you need patchswitcher to play on 1.6 or 1.61 servers, because patched servers accept any client version. And how are you thinking of conducting the test?

#295 Re: Feedback » no active balance system » 2023-06-07 00:07:13

Autobalance is hard to get it right, in my opinion. Players disconnect and teams become unbalanced, or even if teams have the same player numbers, some stronger players all are in the same team, unbalancing the game. I dislike the forced team switch solution, some maps you like to play on Axis others as Allies.

#296 Re: BF1942 Discussion » Gazala » 2023-06-06 23:56:10

Gazala was removed from the maplist because it is being reformulated, probably move the control point to the hidden airfield, like it was in aX server. Any suggestions you may have to Gazala map? By the way, some other maps will also be tweaked.

#297 Re: Feedback » SiMPLE blind test: your feedback! » 2023-06-06 23:38:47

Thank you for the feedback, there is no right or wrong, anyone may have differing opinions. The test will be repeated again this weekend, same settings as before on Saturday and on Sunday. If you have the time to play, please pick on which day you preferred to play or if you noticed no difference.

#298 Re: Feedback » SiMPLE blind test: your feedback! » 2023-06-05 00:16:05

So, did you notice any difference on Saturday or on Sunday? If you noticed, which day did you prefer? Or was it all the same?

Added a poll to the first post, if you prefer to give your feedback that way.
