Hey all,

I'm looking to run a "fill the server" Point of Existence event for Battlefield Vietnam V1.21 this coming weekend! It will be hosted on my server https://www.gametracker.com/server_info … 175:15567/ (Address: 58.171.245.175 Port: 15567).

I am looking to host it Saturday 4th March at 20:30 Pacific Time (Sunday 5th March 4:30 UTC / Sunday 5th March 14:30 Australian Eastern Standard Time).

I am expecting it to run for roughly 3-4 hours, so don't worry if you aren't able to be there in the first hour! During this time I will have solely PoE maps in the server map pool. I may even have PoE-only on the server for a little longer before and after the event.

I may also look at running this on future Sundays OR run similar events for BFV:World War 2 Extended, Eve of Destruction and BFV:Arsenal going forward as well! I currently run maps for these mods as well as for vanilla/base Battlefield Vietnam, with mod installation links provided on the server's gametracker page.

If you need to install the mod, you just require the base Battlefield Vietnam, as well as the following:

I will be running server-side modifications to the maps for extra air vehicles on the existing air vehicle maps. Otherwise it will be PoE straight out of the box with no extra installs or changes required.

Haven't seen him on lately, but I mainly only play Powerstomp's Easy Prey server and my own BFV server.

Doesn't look like he's been on Hello Clan server for a couple of months though

Nice. Turns out a number of the big guns have had input on it lol.

Beyond the "AI difficulty %" (game tab) and "COOP Bot AI % CPU" (server tab, below description) settings in BFSM/BVSM? Got both those maxed. I have noticed having lots of extra vehicle spawns (talking tripling an airfield on a map like Khe Sanh) and/or lots of indoor on Vietnam maps in particular will lock them all up defending a point even when they otherwise have properly functional ai (Quang Tri '72 and '68 UNMODDED has this issue lol)

If anyone does have a set of the ctf-coop/tdm-coop maps for bf1942 I'd love to have them. Found on some maps like Stalingrad and Gothic Line I couldn't get the ai working without making some changes that I assume are what is causing them to now not function SSM.

ALL maps now have helicopters, and 2 more now have planes. Less tanks on most of the maps too.

As a side note, I've had to turn off the TDM/CTF bots maps on the 1942 server for a little bit. Going to try redo the same and more maps completely SSM rather than with a couple that were CSM in the mix due to my modding skill limitations at the time. May be a few months before I get to this though.

Hey folks,

I've expanded the map list of my servers substantially lately.

I'm now running all of Retail 1942 and expansions, plus desert combat final and the Team Simple New Maps. All the Co-op ones anyway.

Up to 10 maps across SW and retail converted to TDM/CTF/CQ-COOP, but two (Hellendoorn and Stalingrad) don't seem to be working as SSM, while the rest do.  Am distributing my modded files on the gametracker page for 1942 though so check there if you're running into crashes on a map you want to jump on.

For Vietnam I'm running Retail Vietnam, WW2 Mod and WW2 Mod Extended, plus the Co-op maps from Hello Clan's Mission Possible Map Pack

It's pretty solid. https://www.moddb.com/games/battlefield … ed-mod-rc1 Builds onto it, taking the 2 maps already converted plus the "new" Invasion of the Philipines (US v JAP) map and adds the rest of the 1942 1.6 vanilla maps plus a ww2-themed reskin of the BFV UI. Have got both running on my BFV server but if you're going to have something conquest with a few folks I'll try come along.

Only thing worse about BFV hitreg is when targets are running at or near perpendicular (across the screen without movement toward/away) to the player. Basically unhittable regardless of where you place the shot with any light weapon, even MG's. That aside, it's otherwise better generally.

Infantry and light vehicles with fast but not instant vehicle respawns are the way to go imo. Plus "cool/funny" bonus kits like low damage high knockback explosives/zooks, knockback or splash on light weapons that normally don't, etc.

BM would know of a certain Hellendoorn mod that was basically perfect for making a shit map great tongue

Also, trying to change the exact spawn point locations without changing the controlpoints themselves could make the maps feel a little different. No doubt you guys have prolly already played with this to try reduce instagib spawns when under attack.

Yeah, took another fresh install. Must've been the order I was adding the ded file, the server manager, and the patched client or something lol.

Now I'm having trouble with the jetpack kit crashing maps I've added bots to cq/tdm/ctf on >.< made good progress now, with a 3rd SW map inf and light vehicles only, and another 2 with cq/tdm/ctf bots. Didn't fuck up modifying scoring through game.rfa this time too lol

Hey guys,

Long story short I used to play BF1942 Secret Weapons Demo, religiously as a kid, plus a little retail and Vietnam, through connecting to non Aussie servers off 8MB/s, basically til MW2 came out.

Not really looking to get clapped in 250-450ms again but I am back to help you guys get the word out a bit. And host Aussie servers with some of my own and willing others' mods in the hopes there's some Aussies that might return and stay around to play PvP and internationally.

Also, I'll be uploading many of my games here and in BFV on my youtube channel. I'm probably not going to be super dedicated over the long term (though assuming they don't shit themselves, the servers should be). I'm a semi-competitive RTS player & tournament commentator (Age of Empires series) and looking to start working remotely away from good internet most weeks of the year. Guess the plus side is most of the other titles I upload are from a similar era to 1942->2142.

Also, I managed to get Eagles Nest Infantry Only with bots in CTF/TDM/CQ working. Have done the same with Hellendoorn. I am probably just going to add bots to the rest of the modes for the other SW maps but not edit vehicles.

Okay.................

I got the game reinstalled after accidentally swapping the wrong game.rfa (trying to modify scoring).

Now the server manager won't work. I have to launch BF1942_w32ded before BFSM otherwise BF1942_w32ded crashes. EVEN STILL DOING SO, the server no longer appears on openspy, gametracker, etc.

YES, I HAVE FRESH INSTALLED, TWICE, RUNNING CCLEANER AFTER A RESTART BETWEEN INSTALLS.

Any advice here BM?

Hey mate lol you just replied around the time I updated the 2nd post big_smile

Ended up just being some files that I shouldn't have left in the modded RFA (or conflicts from something appearing in the AI then the AI subfolder a second time) was causing the issue. Took about 3 minutes to do the changes for CTF once I had them working in TDM, then combined the two just as easily. Onto vehicle changes next but I'll leave that for over the next few days to get right.

Nevermind, all done with replacing tanks and natters with their mlgproplayer equivalent, adding the second goblin to each airfield, and lowering the despawn/respawn times. 24/7 Hellendoorn Infantry COOP in CQ, TDM and CTF is live! Now I just need to learn how to work on the ai to play gooder, and go for the CTF flag caps..... big_smile

Been well, finished school, in and out of university, half a dozen different jobs. About to change careers and thought I'd get back into an old passion hahaha.

Ah, that's a shame. I saw you and Henk had been active on here and assumed the best!

I've actually had a lot of luck getting my hosting sorted for both BFV and BF1942 since the first post. They're both stable and showing up ingame via openspy. But now I'm stuck trying to get TDM on Hellendoorn modded with bots lol. Got into the game at one point with the bots, only for it to crash on the first spawn (guessing a problem with strategy.con, which I hadn't touched), and now I've broken something else and it's crashing on the bloody loadscreen again lol. Thanks for that, I'll message him about it sometime. Ideally I'd have a 24/7 Hellendoorn mostly-infantry (extra goblins and scwimmwagens, no tanks or natter) server, with COOP, TDMCOOP, and CTFCOOP in the long run (bots just to make it more active in bad hours for Aussies).

Am I best off posting my half-finished work here for help, or do you guys have a discord for this sort of thing?

I've just got TDM and CTF with bots working.... Now time to get used to adding, swapping and repositioning vehicles for COOP, TDM and CTF.... Tomorrow job I think!!

Hey all

It's Un0/Number 1 here from Secret Weapons Demo days. Popping in for a couple of reasons

I'm wanting to try start up an Aussie/Oceanic server, preferrably a 24/7 SW Hellendoorn TDM server with bots and no tanks/natter if possible (if we can't have SWD infantry like the old Lets Play Server, I'll give us the next best thing!). I've managed to get 1.6 reinstalled with both expansions, and can connect fine to the existing servers. Just wanna make sure I get the ports right, and the right copy of the server manager thingy (never hosted, but had experience as a low rank admin for LPS back in 2008-13). Already tried and failed to get a dedicated server for BFV hosted from my gaming rig. Apparently that takes buying server space, while here the in house dedicated hosting still works?

I've also come to try get back in touch with some legends of the SWD community back in the day like Cat, Mamba, Behemoth, Xenon, Henk, Ray, the VS clan and so on if they're still kicking around!
