This is how i would love to play Omaha:

The main idea is to add the scenery a third stage of fighting,
because in my opinion the actual process of landing on the beach is way too short and should be more intense.

Add the second Fletcher, put both ships out of sight from the beach and limit their area of movement.
The ships' only purposes are spawnpoints and artillery support, No need to mess with 'em,
normally i would have said make 'em immobile, but this only would foster pixeling.
Just create a narrow corridor parallel to the beach (use the same barrier as the map boundaries in Midway -
big ships can't pass it, landing crafts can).
Make the beach flag a large diameter.

Now the round begins with several LCVPs driving towards the shore,
this is the classic scenery an Omaha map shouldn't be missing.
The snipers on the landing crafts can provide a view of the beach -
let's see how many bunny hopping Axis medics or landing craft campers survive the shelling of two destroyers.

The beach flag should be taken soon.
The Hanomag is not availabe from start, it only spawns when beach flag is under Allied control.
This gives the impression of Axis alarm forces from inland, and of course,
to prevent too much Axis beachflag camping at the beginning.

Now Allies have their usual equipment, tank, SPG, APC and jeeps, while Axis still have no tank.
It first spawns when the fortified positions flag (and/or garrison flag) is lost and taken over by Allied team.
The idea of a Tiger tank defensively camping the ramps down to the beach seems pretty silly to me.
Like the Hanomag, the tank for Axis should also be considered reserve from inland and should arrive at a point
where Axis team really is under pressure. Furthermore, this has the advantage a daring jeep driver
who managed to have sneaked to top flag cannot steal a vacant Axis tank.

All of that would be a nice boost for good old Omaha, if i may say so myself.

Hi all.

I know this game since it came out and i joined SiMPLE in October 2022.
I have been following the development of SiMPLE | Battlefield 1942 for about three and a half years now.
During that time, there were several crises, and since then, player numbers have been steadily declining.
SiMPLE is in dire need of changes.

But here's the problem - whom to adress with any suggestions?
I have several friends among SiMPLE adminship, some mention there's not much activity in the chambers of the admins nowadays,
either on Discord or here. That suits to what i see on the server.
Only one fact: 72 players detected has became damn rare for many months now.

Battlefield 1942 has become really old now, and all i want is to keep the game healthy and alive.
SiMPLE is in dire need of changes, and i'm looking for dedicated and reasonable people who share my opinion.

I kindly ask the responsible guys, and i assume this forum is still the main place for discussion,
to have a look in many unanswered topics -
here a few examples:
death bubble in Caen
Omaha setup
Omaha beach flag *(ignore MarviN)
vehicle expiring times

In my perfect world exactly this would be the case.
And that's only one reason why i never can be admin on SiMPLE.
I can't enforce rules which i don't like, and there' a few of them.
I am a simple man, i see the credo of a war game like: you spawn - you fight.
So, if there must be a kindergarten zone, at least make it for Axis on Market Garden within the sandbags.
Kick BALLBREAKER for something else, please - but not for putting landmines on a bridge.

p.s. i guess the sandbags mark a reasonable line as "base borders", in most maps.
also the death bubbles are way too big in almost every map.

It's time to say Thank you.
I've been playing the APCs in our beloved game for some time now, and have had countless hours of fun
and exciting gaming experiences. I have developed alongside you, and this makes me happy and proud.

Today, i would like to thank everyone who made this possible.
Thanks to those leaving the MG in 12 o'clock, thx to the admins for the !wdis and !kill commands,
thx to those spawn with the proper kit, thx to jeep drivers who brake,

Poor SPEEDo doesn't even know yet that her entire squad will be eliminated within the next few seconds.

Someone did this, someone did that. Quite confusing at first. Anyway.
I wonder why he made it so obvious. He literally announced it by accusing two admins of not playing fair,
Sunshine yesterday and Zagros the day before...
So many impossible kills on regular players. I would really like to hear his explanation for this,
i'd like to know if he's either stupid or just wanted to see how long it would take before he got caught.

P.S. While "someone" did it way too obvious, anyone could fool even the smartest admin. Poor us.

While the chiguire guy is just a little goof who could easily be put back on the right track,
BrazilKing is beyond any help.
He once was banned permanently,
and he started his annoying ways the very moment he was allowed to play again on SiMPLE.
For me, accepting him on SiMPLE is the same as accepting a fly on the screen, 2 cm next to the crosshair.

and i'm your truck driver for this map.

Some APC commanders decide to focus on the driver's seat only.
Sometimes it's even recommended that you never leave (1), depending on the average level of discipline in the team.
Once the designated APC driver has decided never to leave the driver's seat, his view is quite restricted.
However, the benefit of the different camera views can provide a good advantage,
particularly when the situation allows a well prepared defensive position.

Chapter IX. 1 a) Defensive position

Axis forces have advanced to the river, the squad at G4 outpost has repelled all attacks so far.
A counterattack is out of the question at this point.
Crossing the bridge is too risky due to the lack of tanks in the immediate vicinity of the APC.

True. Probably one setting actually could work.
ptk x 3 = kick
ftk = equals minus score
This way the TKers eventually can be gotten rid off without admin,
and the normal players, at least, can truly forgive each others accidents.

Sigh, let's pretend someone applies such things to SiMPLE nowadays,
let him/her also make a !sorry reduce the TKers' spawn time penalty a little. tongue

Well, the disadvantages quickly became apparent.
Example #1
Player A, a normal and reasonable player accidentally TKs player B,
who is simply an idiot and jumped in front of Player A's gun.
Player A shouts at player B, because B is even more of an idiot and ptk'ed A, who has now 1 minute spawn time.

Example #2
Player C operates the APC and gets rammed by a car.
There's a bug every now and then which makes the truck driver responsible for the passengers.
The result is that every player inside the APC counts as TKed by the APC driver.
Not every victim does ftk in time and player C ends up with 2 and a half minutes spawn time.

The original idea behind ftk and ptk is good, but in practice it simply does not work.

Alright. This thread was originally about the Angry Djungle Dweller irrationally suggesting kick for not saying sorry.
Now, having a gaming session with well mannered players is something most of us most certainly do appreciate.
These ftk and ptk commands were meant to teach a lesson to those whose TKs are questionable.

They did work, Minnie, here on SiMPLE. The settings were like this:

TK             =   a few seconds spawn time added
TK + ftk     =   normal spawn time
TK + ptk    =   regular penalty + spawn time added from every victim who applies ptk

According to a BFSM control panel a player can also be kicked after receiving a certain number of ptks,
regardless of his score.
Ah, by the way, bf1942.eu shows all this as enabled on SiMPLE, if i'm not mistaken.

But i'm just a truck driver, if anyone knows better, please step forward and correct me, i'm fine with it.

Well, ftk and ptk were once active, but haven't been since months (years?), yet the server text still mentions them.
Some players are completely unaware of its existence, while others simply do not know how to use it properly.
It's a shame, really, 'cause it could be quite useful.
Nevertheless, it's a delicate matter, as like all useful things, it can be abused.
In any case, there is plenty of room for discussion.

Nah, that won't work. In cramped fighting conditions, as you mentioned, you might not notice you have TKed.
And when there's a lot of killing going on the message gets lost too many times (sometimes it even can't be found browsing the console).
What if trolls and idiots jump into your fire - wanna say sorry to them then?
Another example: countless times players trying to enter the APC were run over because when position 2 is occupied
getting into the truck is only possible at the rear half of the vehicle.
etc., etc.
It would be way better to bring back the ftk and ptk commands.

Yeah, although i don't like CTF much it is not a bad idea at all.

And i want to make an additional suggestion, 'cause El Al (CTF) appears to be a polarizing subject.
There are times it can be great fun with few players, there are times it can be fun with many players,
there are times players disconnect and there are times people join for it.
You can never tell in advance wether it will work or not.
20 players aren't just 20 players, you know, no analyses take into account who these individuals are.
It would be wise to give permission to a few reliable admins to change maps for the sake of the server.

Well, Omaha Beach focusses infantry and artillery.
The armor should be considered bonus.
And for my taste a Sherman and a Pz IV would suit the map better than the heavies.
