Just noticed the difference between the Team Simple 1.6 and 1.1612 patch (which doesn't exist at all for the retail version)

BF is now working in 2560x1440, and I seemingly got the other mods to work with the BF1942CF.exe patch.

My SLI is turned off.

I just reintalled, and applied the Team Simple patch. However, my max resolution is now 1280x1024. That's not HD/widescreen.

Intended or bug?

Basically I installed:

BF1942
Road to Rome
Secret Weapons (installs 1.45)
1.619 full patch
1.6b
Installed team simple 1.6b

Just tried disabling Bit Defender, and the game started in widescreen.

Doesn't fix the fact that I need to be under 98 to play some mods. Will try the aforementioned BF1942CF.exe.

Can't find a working link, tho. =/

[EDIT] Finally found a link, sadly DCX still crashes. Oh well.

I do have some ideas but more information will be required smile

Hello,

Windows 7 64 bits + 2x GeForce GTX 980 with latest drivers.

Yes, disc version. Tried Origin one, didn't launch. So far Desert Combat Extended doesn't work at all, some other mods it depends on the maps, for example Merciless Creations, specifically Kharnov. Widescreen not working at all is a bigger issue atm.

Widescreen patches that allow new resolutions in-game do work, but the choice is limited. For example, with the team simple patch, I can only go up to 1280x1024 in 4:3.

I tried the various widescreen fixes, I'm still suck in 4:3. Note that the following is my monitor's resolution, but I tried others like the popular 1920x1080x32x60. Tried with the original .exe and this one: http://www.moddb.com/mods/fhrmod/downlo … tch-for-fh

N.B. tried read-only on/off, setting refresh rate to 0, tried many other resolutions... still stuck in 4:3

It crashes at around 15 or 30 percent.

Yes it's a fresh install.

No it crashes in either singleplayer or multiplayer.

It depends of the mods. Some run fine, others not.

FH used to only run in W98 until someone made a patch.

Hi,

Thanks for your interest, however I have already tried this. The mods (DCX, some maps of other mods there and there) really need Win 98 compatibility mode to function, otherwise I get a 30-ish percent "BF1942.exe has stopped".

The exe's you linked seem to enforce Windows XP SP3 mode. I could not untick it.

When I do, I lose the resolution-change ability, making the game tremendously graphically horrible on a 27 inch ROG Swift.

I have also tried the .con changes. Can't say I've been much successful, even under non-compatibility mode. Maybe it's me.

Regards.

Hi,

I have many BF42 mods that necessitate 1998 to work (otherwise it crashes on map loading), namely Desert Combat Extended amongst others. However, under Windows 98 compatibility mode, it's impossible to enforce widescreen with the numerous post-Gamespy/widescreen patches (tried them all), compared to XP SP3 or whatever. Is it a doomed cause?  sad

Serious willing to part with 10 bucks for a solution. :S

Regards.
Matt
