There are some things you need to know. The most important one is that you CANNOT use this to play with people that have the disc-based version....
Battlefield 1942 Origin Digital Download FAQ
Q: Can I play online against players who have the original disc-based version?
A: No. This Origin digital download version can only be played against other players who are using the same version. But since it’s free for everyone, everyone can download their own copy of the game. This version of the game will only show applicable (new) servers in the server browser.
And no this does not include the expansion packs.

1400 players now, i tried to enter one of their server and i got this message "wrong version". Want to update it? I hope they have a new patch for us , cd originals...

Hmm... Looks like they've made a different client and server version, so you can only play through EA servers. Let's see if it's possible to patch it.

Woah ... Insane !

This may be the single and biggest piece of news in the BF1942 scene for 5+years !!

New blood / life to the 1942 community !?!?!

Let's hope for the ultimate wet dream : Thousands of new players entering this game after it has nearly died.

i'm gonna stay up alllll night to witness this ..... .... it's a miracle !

But maybe it dies out fast too ..... let's hope some of those players actually buys the REAL game ....

Lecter ... it think that "demo" is separated completely from "our" version, but it may be posible to have two versions installed at the same time ?

I'm gonna try out that new version for sure !!! ... right now ... !! even if i'll have to deinstall regular 1942

It installs at %PROGRAMFILES%\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942, so you can have both games installed.

i downloaded it, went to a 64 player server . berlin. No admins ofc, tking all the way, no balance teams, just spawned as allies and were 3 tanks shooting us and guys on allley, no way to get out, nadespamm all the time, still had fun, ofc everyone started calling me a hacker....ahahahah

The servermanagers work, made a little test server but question is if there gonna be any linux files.
