As governments across the world work to improve life for their citizens, they must also consider how to help them die
well. The Economist Intelligence Unit has assessed the availability, affordability and quality of palliative care available to
adults across 80 countries. Countries were scored out of 100 on 20 indicators in five categories.
ugh, this is too long to post and okay, I had to look up "palliative care"...here is definition:
Palliative care (pronounced pal-lee-uh-tiv) is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses. It focuses on providing
patients with relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
top 5 countries for this type of care:
England
Australia
New Zealand
Ireland
Belgium
Wondering what the per capita use of alcohol is for the top countries....just sayin....
Page two of the following (entire) report outlines the five categories rated and graphically ranks all countries in study...

England, Australia, and New Zealand have a shared history and are culturally tied in many ways. It looks like caring for the dying is a strong part of our shared culture too. I'd agree that there is good palliative care in NZ.
Good topic Monkey...kind of a a side step but..
Quality care in the USA involves a lot of money. You won't see us on that list anytime soon. Obama care was/is a disaster.
Training top quality Doctors takes 15 years at the minimum to begin with...and even then...they are rookies until their late 30's to mid 40's.
I think anyone that would willingly sacrifice the majority of their prime "young" years studying to further humanity, should also be very well compensated for their efforts. As far as helping citizens to "die well"...well...you better save your pennies.
Past that...it sure would be nice to see all governments stop spending for wars and instead spend every penny on their citizens and infrastructure for at least 2 years. World truce for 2 years I say...the people of this world really do not understand their power. The quality of life for all would improve dramatically...especially in the USA. Of course the problem with all that is those that were in the $$money$$ would NOT be any longer. The very reason we are in the mess to begin with......greed and power over others.

Imagine what we could do if all humans worked together.
Great news, Turkey is in Europe.

Someone will always try to take what someone else has. Nature of the pigmonkey.

That is why we kill them all and take their women, in the name of peace!
Oh wait, how did this all happen again.

Its like some weird cycle, WW2 as brutal as it was spawned a shitload of science things like radar and the jet-engine, and so for a while after the war people prosper and build rockets and go to the moon and invent wash dryers and computers and stuff.
