Re: Posting Finally

Good fun to watch there Nin.  I'm all for having fresh videos to watch and seeing another player's view of the game.

In regard to recording TS, you should be able to disable your Mike as an input device somewhere in the audio settings for (fraps?).  That way you can still speak on TS but it won't be recorded.

Swooping....like running your finger nails down a blackboard...ahaha  As effective as it can be...it was just never respected, as all the good pilots back in the day looked at it like musicians look at stairway to heaven...it's cool and everything...just don't let anyone hear you playing it.  That was then...if you have fun doing it...whats to really say.

I like how you use your cameras...when I hear comments like you didn't have to scroll thru your cameras views to get to the one you wanted...I knew the level of competition is...well...lets say...average.  I wonder how many people play with default key assignments. tongue

Re: Posting Finally

Majority of all bf1942 planes are what the real life planes are based upon, corsair is a tight turning plane but due to the heavy front end(big engine) you can't just go in a turn fight, you will lose speed.  So when you're in a dogfight, do yo yo turns or long turn loops, meaning that use your speed coming down then don't pull real hard back, make it longer and use the climbing ability of the corsair.  Plus the corsair are a heavier armor plane which means it can take a beating.  Compared to Zero?  to me Zero are the bomb!  the best! top cat! - in my opinion over all best plane out there in the right hands with someone that knows how to fly them are the mustang!

Re: Posting Finally

Good point about the 'stang...It was the Mustang that allowed us to cover/escort our bombers, over thousands of miles, against enemy land targets with real Fighters in WW2. Bombing with impunity. Because of that...many historians consider the Mustang to be one of the main reasons we won the war. It was also the Mustang to approach the speed of the German jets in a shallow dive and shoot one down. Some pilots found out what happens when your blade tips approach the speed of sound.~

I wish the de Havilland Mosquitos were in BF '42,  While it was not quite a fighter, it was a real showboat performer. It's front array of Mg's had incredible firepower...one short well aimed burst, usually did the job.  I'd also like to see the more advanced German planes that never made it into the game, but that's another story.

One thing I notice, Bos, that is worth mentioning. You are able to toggle back and forth between views without scrolling through them. I set up my "V" key for cockpit view to go back and forth quickly.  It seems you did something similar.

It is a good BF 1942 tip that I am sharing with the forums now in case some of your had not considered it.

Game on.

If you happen to use the joystick, the hat switch is ideal for this.

The Mustang was necessary, but adding the Mustang to bomber escorts didn't change much. It was the end of the bomber mafia that ended the Luftwaffe's reign. Before the changeover in leadership, the mission of escort fighters was to protect the bombers. They were not supposed to patrol away from the bombers, follow enemy fighters if they depart more than a certain distance, altitude, etc. Doolittle taking over changed all that. The new mission of the escort fighters was to destroy the Luftwaffe.

Re: Posting Finally

Man, I must need glasses! I cant see me for diddly-squat and thats after watching it several times. From my perspective the first 2 bombs were close in the water. But then I got on land and you dropped another one in the water so I figured you were just guessing where I was. But I'm telling ya I would never have seen me on the kill shot. You must be wearing Inspector Gadget Tookie Googles. (smiley face)

The funny thing is that I was just telling Flick last night on TS that he was really gonna hate me now because the last two times I've been allies on BOB I've just been cruising over the axis main dropping bombs in the B-17. I'm thinkin ya got me once before too, but didnt watch the whole thing to see.

Here is a picture of Tookie parachuting into the drink. Looks like he didn’t need any goggles to see that, just some good eyes.

I still have a long way to go for good dog fighting, but I also experiment with DCS, which is just as much simulator as game. While pretty much everything about dogfighting is vastly different, one of the most striking things is closure speed:

You could just get maximum altitude and loop over mid without even needing to waste time on maneuvers. I train this now smile

Re: Posting Finally

I was watching you fly yesterday Russ and boy have YOU ever come a long way! I am envious. Was flying with HILLY and he was bombong and I was flying the 109. Hilly started early with a -5 from bombing Allied base when there was Axis on the ground at the base, and at the end of the game, Hilly took second place and I was up to my HIGH score in a 109 with................2
Russ kicked some butt. I will keep trying but I notice I sunk my "W" key so it sits deeper into the keyboard now, trying for more speed.......... :-)
