Hey there,
Since Windows XP will be dead as of next week, what are you guys gonna do?
Go on W7 or 8? ...
im gonna say bye bye win xp !!!!!
Why change? I will continue to use Windows XP. I still have some old computers running Windows 98SE and Windows 2000, sometimes connected to the internet. If you are concerned about computer security, move to Linux or BSD. There are friendly Linux distros, anyone can install it and use it.
fkin dark side have take it over
Windows XP was good but its support is ending and this system is going to be obsolete soon enough. The end of support doesn't mean the system will be terminated everywhere because there are a lot of computers that still work on this system. For example, when you get cash from your plastic card, you have no idea what system the ATM is running but there is a strong possibility that Windows XP still powers your ATM like 90% of the world's teller machines. Anyway, with the lapse of time you will get a lot of things you don't expect but I do. The first thing that bothers me a lot is web browser: one day you will be not able to work with your web-banking system because it requires Internet Explorer 10 or higher. The highest version of Internet Explorer for Windows XP is Internet Explorer 8. Just wait for a while and your Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox will refuse to update. Hence, you can forget about the web standards evolution like HTML5, CSS and Flash.

What does this mean for users of Windows XP
Suspension support means that we will no longer deliver software updates. These updates ensure protection and reliable operation of your computer. Without them, your computer may become susceptible to harmful viruses, spyware and other malicious software, causing data loss and decreased performance.
Although your computer will work, can cause problems with security and support.
My PC is just for playing games... and BF42 is the only game i play. I am not concerned about security.
Basically mine too and for work as well. More than enough for my current needs.
Do you guys plan on upgrading to Windows 7 anytime soon then? I was pretty surprised that it worked very well on my 7-year-old laptop. I thought that it would slow down my machine but it didn't.

It is an interesting option and I have managed to run BF1942 on Linux with "Wine" and it worked pretty fine. But speaking from many years of experience with Linux on the Desktop I wouldn't recommend this OS to most people. The amount of available software is quite limited compared to Windows and also you still have to type in some console commands for sometimes pretty simple stuff. Linux is interesting for people who are willing to learn and invest time but not for most people.
What do u have to plan..? Just instal it

Already have w7
Btw another option would be Windows Vista, it is still supported for another 3 years.
Pfff... i disabled windows update on my old PC like 4 years ago and i had no problem... xd
I think its more important for companies/office users...
Hoorayyyyyyy!!!!!!! No more annoying updates
This is the best thing that ever happened to a Windows system
@70: Don't even think of switching to Vista, worst one of them all. Allthough I'm pretty sure they made things better (with all the updates)

I have 7 on my laptop and XP on my broken comp and I can say that XP is much better
it's strong depend of hardware, in some cases win7 can get gain in PC efficiency a lot
dont know about win 8, i think it made mostly for mobile usage, pick 7 and wont lose anyway
how much cost education at your place there, Sun?
to say, a second-hand PC always be more powerfull then a same-price new one
