I don't think it's too easy to capture the spawnpoint with the current spawntime (12 seconds). Note that, it's a maximum spawntime. You'll only have to wait more than 12 seconds if you teamkill someone, because we need to punish teamkills with increased spawntime.

Current server setting is 12 and 3 seconds ...
You have to add those two numbers + add 2 seconds to that, to calculate the maximum spawn time
Maximum spawn time is currently 17 seconds, and minimum is 3 ..... average is 10 seconds
Try joining the server and then get randomly killed by the enemy ten to twenty times, and you will find that i am right ....
i still think that 10 seconds should be the maximum time you have to wait for respawning after getting killed ..... 17 seconds is way way too long

Hmm... ok i didn't know that. I will check that again. I always thought the server spawntime worked like this, you could spawn during the spawnwave time period (our server is set to 3 seconds), then you had to wait 12 seconds for the next wave to spawn again. If you got killed when, for example, there were 6 seconds remaining for the next spawn wave, you wouldn't wait 12 seconds but the remaining 6 seconds to spawn.
tuia .... you're wrong ..... try to die more and you will see those numbers .....
33 % of all deaths will result in a spawn time of 13 to 17 seconds
and you have to wait more than 13 seconds before dying after respawning to reach those 13+ seconds

dont lower the spawn times, it takes 10 seconds to grey a flag.. its mostly hard enough to kill a whole spawn alone..
Up to 18 seconds with one noob less on the map . I love that!
its enough time to think about why you died.
Spawn time is ok as it is....
I believe lowering that much the spawntime would not benefit gameplay in any way. I could be wrong.
It seems only you support that idea, if more players preferred lower spawntime, it could be considered.
why did you lower begining spawn time? it used to be 50 or what now is like 20..
Yea, first spawntime should be later. It's possible to take enemy flag BEFORE ANY ENEMY SPAWNS ON the map
if the majority prefers high spawn times, so be it :-)
all i'm saying is that 90 percent of SiMPLE players never come to this forum, so maybe lower spawn times actually would be more popular on the server, even though the people replying here don't like the idea. Most people posting in here are admins and clanners or both - it's not representing the average server composition of players. I think the server would be even more populated with this little adjustment, and a small trial period wouldn't be any problem.
but don't do it if you don't like the idea, it's just a suggestion :-)

yeah i played tobruk today, it sucked, axis got the first line even faster
I would prefer a shorter spawn time after dying too not <10seconds. I don't understand how a flag can be taken on the game start first spawn time, when everyone spawns at the same time (speed of cpu, ping shouldn't matter) unless the settings are off? but again, I dont set our server, just run the remote manager portion.

Why 2 random seconds? where do they come from?
My experience from many matches & public playing tells me something else.
Example:
Spawn time: 10 secs Spawn Delay: 3 secs
The spawn time is fixed.
Means, if first spawn is at xx:00, the second one is at xx:50, the third at xx :40, etc.
So if you die at xx:55, your spawn time is 5 secs -> 55 - 5 = 50.
Spawn Delay makes sure that you are dead at least 3 secs.
This is important, when you die between xx:53 and xx:50.
So there are 2 cases:
1)
With a death between xx:00 and xx:53, your spawn time will be normal, 10 to 3 secs.
2)
With a death between xx:53 and xx:50, you cant hold these 3 secs delay time -> you will spawn at xx:40.
Worst case is a death at xx:53 -> spawn time will be 13 secs (10 + 3)
This "theorie" is based on my own experience. If you got any proof that i'm wrong, please tell me.
But until now, it always worked when i needed it ( helpfull at spawn camping ;P)

Not sure, it's like you explain, JoJo'. I think X=X=X=X=X=X=X=X is right. Sometimes spawn time wuth 12+3 settings would be 17 seconds. How would you explain that? I've never seen anything on the web detailing BF1942 spawn times.
@Dudeck: Spawn time is now 9+6. Can't say it has been lowered.
By the way, I had an idea recently : The more tks you do, the longer you'll wait.
1 tk = 15 sec more to wait.
What if we subtracted the flag(s) taken, I mean :
I tk 2 guys (accidentally, a nasty nade). So I'll have to wait 30 seconds if I die. But before dying, I take a flag. Then it removes 1 tk, and I'll have to wait as if I had tked only 1 person. If I take 2 flags, it removes the two tks...
After all, accidents always happen... And should we really punish someone who tked unintentionnally ? If the guy takes a flag, he's not a real teamkiller...
The logic of spawntime would be based on the points during a "life" : 1 tk = -3 points. 1 Flag Taken = +3 points...

You can't do that, Zapp.
For every teamkill you do, there is an extra delay in next spawn time. If someone teamkills you, you can forgive him, by typing ftk in console and he won't have a penalty, as was discussed here: http://team-simple.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1307
