EA released yesterday Battlefield 1942 as a free digital download on Origin. They included a Windows dedicated server file, so anyone can run their own dedicated server. However, EA did not do their homework, the new server version can be remotely crashed by commands, such as, game.setTeam and game.createLocalPlayer. This patched server file is fixed against those 2 exploits. Download: http://team-simple.org/download/BF1942_ … atched.zip
Thank you.
Battlefield 1942 v1.612 server maximum players limit raised to 128. The patched server file is also fixed against the 2 public exploits. Included a patched DedicatedServer.exe so you can select easily up to 128 players. Download: http://team-simple.org/download/BF1942_ … layers.zip
waiting for this new server!
Sorry for asking a possibly noobish question, but are the BFSM and BFRM
from post # 28 in this thread :
http://team-simple.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=67
the proper ones to use with a 65+ player BF1942 Origin server, or have you made any later / "better" releases, Tuia ?

awesome tuia!
you are the best!
that give our lovely bf1942 a 2nd wind
and i guess the mods like forgotten hope, too.
big thanks to you and your team!
greetings from the pixel-fighter!
PD
These BF1942 v1.612 Windows server executables display keyhashes, opposite to the server executable released with BF1942 Origin download. Besides that, they include security fixes and maximum players limit raised. Read included .nfo file for details.
BF1942_w32ded-1.612-keyhash.zip, this only allows BF1942 v1.612 (Origin) players to connect to the server.
BF1942_w32ded-1.612-keyhash_all_clients.zip, accepts all BF1942 client versions - v1.6, v1.61 and v1.612.
First: Thank you a bunch for posting these somewhere people can actually get to them. Unlike certain BF2 modders...
Anyways I am having a crash on startup issue. I think it might be related to using the old BF1942 dedicated server and not the origin based installer. Any guesses or should I just bit the bullet and use the Origin installer?
You have to download BF1942 Server v1.6 and BF1942 Server Update v1.61 for Windows. Then, overwrite BF1942_w32ded.exe with the one from any of these packages above. You don't need to use BF1942 Origin installation and it's not recommended you do so, because of some mods (Desert Combat, Forgotten Hope, etc.) incompatibility with BF1942 Origin installation.
Is there a fix for linux? Is this a problem with the linux servers using the patch that allows 1.6/1.61/1.612?
EA released yesterday Battlefield 1942 as a free digital download on Origin. They included a Windows dedicated server file, sumiennyksiegowy.pl/warszawa/ - księgowa Warszawa so anyone can run their own dedicated server. Maybe someone knows if it will work on Windows 10?

Is there some new port that has to be forward now for servers? I cannot for the life of me get my server to appear in the game's list. I have the new 1.612 patch and I can join my server both via IP address and domain names. I have forwarded ports:
14567 UDP
28900 TCP
14690 UDP
23000-23009 UDP
Even though I can connect manually to the server, if I try to "Add Server" in the game, it gives me an error:
Could Not Find Requested Server
I also have about 4-5 original copies of the retail CD as well as the Origin release. My client version in the game shows as 1.61. Should it be 1.612 or is that only for the patched Origin version? I can see 1.612 servers but they are grayed out and I can still connect to them, so this shouldn't prevent me from seeing my server.
Thanks

You need to add "Virtual Server" Section in your Router.

Hmm... Never had to do anything like that before and hosted a lot of servers, including BF1942.
Let me ask, is the server supposed to be using an internal IP and not external?
if you run a server from from inside your own network (like 192.168.0.1) and a router, then you cant find it in the gamebrowser from inside that net. dunno why, its always been like that.
if you running the server like this you set it to use internal IP, 14567 and 23000 udp is the only ports you need to open, the others are more or less absolete. (unless your planning to use bfrm from outside your own net)

Yes, I've always run Bf servers from my network and always see them in the list, until now.
Maybe you can tell me then if you can find "Secret Weapons Co-Op (All Maps)" in the list.
Yeah, I go way back with BF1942. I remember playing the beta before it was released. I was always running servers. I discovered something early then that I don't think many people knew. You could run your server as "Local" and this has no effect on connecting to it from outside your network, other than the added benefit of the server not checking keys. The only thing it did was not list it in the game browser.

Thanks.
Here is the link to all servers that is visible to the game ussing ssk´s system (and tuia´s exe files). If you dont see your server there something is not working as it should.

Host file changes are not needed when you use patched BFDedServer.exe, i thought.

It does not matter as long as you are routing traffic that hits the external on those ports to the right internal IP address.
Also check to see if this line is in your "hosts" file at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Tuia updated his files in the downloadsection, so if you use those files you dont have to add any IP to the hostfile
BFSM works well on win10 if you set compatibility
Except it limits you to 64 players.

Yes, I use the new files and the external and internal are fine because I can connect to the server using internal, external, and even a domain name.
I'd just like to know whether anyone else can see my server. Funny, I used to see it all the time and can for every game I host and I do them from a server on my local network. I know I did because I always added my server in the game as a favorite and you can't do that if it doesn't show up.

It was not listed there, but I modified the host file and now it is. Pretty sure I copied his new server files over. The version reported by the server says "1.612 tuia@SiMPLE".
But this is good news. I'll have to check it in the game. Thanks for everyone's help.
{Edit}
I've checked it and it *is* now showing up, even to me on the same network. WooHoo!
