Re: Battle of Britain

I think overall it will be step towards a more realistic expericence.
Basically less stolen airplanes, less basecampers on foot, less teamkills near factory, more people in aa's and mg's.

Also, I would increase the ticket bleed for axis to about +10% so that allied has more chances.

Re: Battle of Britain

Yes, it can be easily solved, I have been recommending it for a long time, unfortunately it has not reached its goal so far.
On the LS server, if you still remember, this was how I mod Britain.
Or modify the kits, there can be only 1 kit, with parachute, pistol and knife, just like a pilot kit. So they can jump out, but can not do anything really.

Re: Battle of Britain

The goal at that time was to reduce spawncamping, not eliminate it. Disabling chutes was not approved.

Deathbubbles added on the hangars.
Weapon kit drops were disabled to prevent ammo resupply.
Existing spawnpoints were moved.
New spawn areas were added to both teams.
Spawn point redundancy added for Allies.

britain-blue-redundancy-02.png

Given all of this, it still requires allied planes & inf to defend their assets.

Re: Battle of Britain

There’s a bunch of realism based mods where parachutes are disabled. Disabling parachutes is a slippery slope, next, people will complain because Thompsons have too many bullets. Stop modding the shit out of everything. It’s destroying the game.

1. Deathbubbles added on the hangars.

2. Weapon kit drops were disabled to prevent ammo resupply.

1. Which hangars? Allied or axis? They were already deathtraps as far as I remember. You couldn't stay near them. How far is the new range?

2. You can always refill ammo near an ammobox, I really think this one it has absolutely no value for the game.

I guess what I really was trying to say is that I'm not against camping but like to try subtile changes that make the enemy unit's landing on enemy base a bigger challenge i,e, allies will stay more on allied side and vice versa but some sneakers will start taking boats or learning to land in discreet places etc.

1. All hangars, the death bubble ends a few steps away from them.
2. There' no ammo crates near the four coastal Radar Towers.
A skilled/lucky bailer can gain up to 4 expacks per killed defending Engineer,
this could definately influence the game.

Very often i play as AA operator, preferably stationed at Clacton Tower,
a no-chute-mod could make me a few more kills, that's certain.
By the way, the rifle (at least the British) does way more damage than in other maps,
not sure if accuracy is altered aswell. In any case, rifling on the British coast makes me feel like a young god. Silly tuia.

Well, at one hand i would welcome a no-chute-mod, but i do respect many non-fly boys on the other.

and the Brits had a bunch of wrenches around the objectives.
Well, experimenting with a no-chute-mod on Britain would require auto-balance off to sort out teams...

Ah, did i already mention?
For the BF42 god's sake, i demand to have these pathetic splat bailers punished with -3.

It would be an interesting statistic about these players: took a plane,go to other side, jump out and snipe only.

Re: Battle of Britain

The death bubbles were introduced on Feb 24, 2000.  Their effect is different than intended tho.  On a Windows server, and an enemy can steal hanger-based aircraft will slight damage as long as they fly it out of there quickly.  On tuia's Linux, it kills the player right away.

As for the ammoboxes - There is just one box on the entire axis side, and it is a long walk from anywhere important. Allies do indeed have more boxes, but traveling to an ammobox = less spawnkilling.

Anyways, disabling chutes won't solve shit when a player can simply land their aircraft.  Add deathbubble to he entire map? smile

You can also bail and aim for a plane when falling and holding "E".

But, if the planes get the lock option, so only useable for the team it has them basicly:
Spitfire - english
BF109 - german
Ju88 - german

In my opinion, from the current collection of "trash" playing on the server, this would be considered a miracle. big_smile

Re: Battle of Britain

What I'm saying is  >> You don't have to add deathbubbles if the majority of the players won't land on your territory.

examples:
Many axis players won't bail on the allied carrier - you will have to defend mostly through aa, repair and planes
Many axis players wont bail on factory, you can repair and provide aa support w/o sabotagers
If you chase a bomber half map and earn a kill at least they won't come out alive.

I mean, the parachute thingy is a simple on off "switch" that can be changed in 5 minutes (in theory) and brought back if people aren't happy with it. Basically it will affect like 1 map out of 20, and not even every player, which makes the impact of around 4% for the whole game.
I really don't understand why you are keeping the server so stagnant, while it can have so many cool new features. Ofc through trial and error.
