Just wondered what does everyone sit on?
My trusty old swivel chair has decided it's time to retire and likes to lower itself when I lean forward.
Are gaming chairs actually any good, or should I stick with an executive office type chair.?
Maybe an old beer keg is best, or a giant bean bag....I've never sat in an actual gaming chair, so was interested if anyone has any recommendations.
I got this one for £160 on sale last month... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 … UTF8&psc=1
It's no Herman Miller or Steelcase, but it's hard to beat for the price. Very adjustable and comfortable.
I've never used a "gaming chair". I always thought they were more gimmicky than practical.
The kids use gaming chairs, i think they'r very comfortable. But as i see it, the only difference between a gaming chair and a chair like Butcher has, is more colors and a fancy logo. Maybe a higher price too.
I use an orthopaedic chair that my friends dad used when he was dying from cancer.
After he died they didn't need it and asked if I wanted it. Its a solid metal construction which doesn't swivel at all but its heavily padded and bound in leather. Not exactly a conventional gaming chair and quite a lot more expensive than one, but its super comfortable and the correct height for my computer setup.
Honestly, in my opinion, "gaming chairs" are overrated and a lot of the price is just based on how cool they look. Sure, they can be super comfortable but you can often find the same level of comfiness in less expensive regular office chairs. I've sat in a couple... one was extremely comfy and the other one had like a bucket seat which I didn't like. It's all about personal taste and comfort!
I had a Serta "executive chair" I bought from a local place in 2016. I bought it without thinking about anything other than back and seat comfort because I just needed a chair and it was on sale. It was extremely comfortable. Unfortunately, the height was adjustable but didn't go as low as I wanted and the arms weren't very adjustable. It was leather and it made me sweat. Being leather, it was not very cat claw friendly -.-
My employer offered those who were working from home during COVID a budget to buy an office chair from a few local places if they needed/wanted one. So I was like hell yea! The only requirement was that it had to be ergonomic (deal with insurance company). Rant:
I narrowed it down to this Alera Etros Petite and this Herman Miller Aeron (in size A). A place nearby had Alera chairs I could "try out" but not the small one. The regular one was nice though and I know someone who has one and loves it. I ended up going with the Aeron because I sat in an Aeron gaming chair before so I was aware of the quality and also wanted something nice for myself lol. To be honest, I would have never bought the Aeron if I had to pay for it myself. It is extremely comfortable and has everything I wanted. But the Alera, in my opinion, would have been just fine for less money and I would probably have no complaints.

Oh Sun. Who is willing to spend 400 dollars can also spend 1300 dollars. Put a little something aside every month and save. You only live once.
I myself have the Razer Iskur X. I had my doubts at first too, but I have to admit that I've never sat so comfortably. Comparable to Birkenstock sandals. They have pressure points that you didn't know before.
I'd say it depends on how much time you spend in that chair. If you waste most of your time away behind a computer screen then it's worth investing in a costly and comfortable chair.
I can tell you about not having one; I've sat on everything except comfortable chairs. If you have other hobbies and BF42 is the only game you play, a beer keg will do just fine.
Using the same laptop and mouse for 10 years I've played BF42 from all kinds of different places, always finding something to sit on lol but never investing more in that because other priorities. So there's that

Hell, if it was just for game/regular use and i had to pay for it myself, I'd probably just by a non-ergo mesh chair at Staples when they go on sale. They're totally fine. But I wasn't about to sit all day working in an uncomfortable chair lol.
I felt kinda bad afterwards and was expecting an email telling me no but then I heard about how much others spent and I didn't feel bad anymore.
A cheap fishing/camping chair beats any ''gaming'' chair.
You can also sit for hours without sweating, or feeling discomfort.

Specially those with the beer holder
As it happens i just use my sofa, as for now anyway. Have a ok office chair but its totally worn out and ivé been meaning to see if its possible to fix it (anybody knows if its possible to buy parts btw?) but havent got around to check it out, maybe easier to just buy a new one. Meanwhile i kinda have gotten used to the "sofa setup".
edit: Why not sit on swords lol
Sit in your own Iron Throne with Secretlab’s Iron Throne Anniversary Edition gaming chair, complete with little (painted on) swords.

My chair has for some reason stopped sinking on me....must have known I was about to replace it.
Thanks for the replies, I found they still do the exact same chair I have in Staples. So I'll just get another one
But not yet I'm waiting for the gas/electric bills to come in...
Something like this... really comfy
