Hi, i believe i was banned, so i waited 1 month and i came back. Now i get really bad lag all of a sudden. My latency is between 50-90 but i cant really move, like the lag is 300, the movement is chopped. Happened today morning betwen 10:50-11:30 am and now 00:00 am uk time.
I check other server and they work fine and have no lag.
Can you please fix server, because this server is the best!
yes, but i played here for many months and had no problem, now all of sudden i get this. Now there about <30 people in server i still get choppy lag.
Another player from the UK also messaged me about it yesterday. I don't believe it's a server problem, because no one else, besides both of you, experiences it, it may be somewhere along the route between you and the server.
I know someone who also had lags all the time. The problem was win7. There is something you have to set up before every game to avoid this problem. I dont exactly how this works or what he did, but i can ask him next time. Maybe its the sam problem.
Just for the sake of info., i m having the issue with lag, when playing on maps, like berlin, stalin, and a few others, where on other maps, the level of play is much better, and i was wondering why that was, because i dont think my pc is so bad ( athlon x2 5600+ , 4GB, ATI 3850 (512MB ddr3), anyone has any idea ? thx
George, I believe that's related with computer lag. It's really strange with your computer specs to experience it. Try to use Bandicam to check your frames per second (FPS) rate. You will probably notice a drop to around 10 or 20 fps, when that happens. I notice that particularly on Aberdeen map. dary and Lecter have talked about this in a previous topic: How to improve gameplay.
Maybe these 2 steps can help you.
1, Set the "windows xp sp3 compatible" to bf1942. (right click,compatible ...)
2, Give system operator rights. (right click,at the bottom of the small window ...)I have win7 and play with these settings. I don't have problems.
I found this on another forum... i know one who tried it and it worked. He had always lags and a unsteady ping between 90 and 200 or something. After this tip his ping was always at 30.

thanks i will try that today.
also the other day there was no lag at all, so assume (as admin said) there must be some packet loss in the route to uk, as i play fine on other server
what should be the ingame average for FPS normally?
Above 60 fps is recommended, because your frame rate is also bound by your monitor refresh rate, which is usually 60 Hz.

The unsteady ping in some games with Windows 7 is related with a sound problem, which can be fixed by editing the Windows registry. Found it: Windows 7 Ping Spikes [FIX].
Another related interesting post: Counter-Strike 1.6, Windows 7, and lag spikes. The sequel.
You may also download TCP Optimizer, but it won't help at all in BF1942. However, your download and upload speed will be improved.
omg lecter .....
you are very very good at infantry .... but your pc is weak .... the more fps the better .... i use the unlock fps command, and i average about 400 frames per second .... i NEVER get less than 200 fps
i'd really like to see you play with a brand new 4000 $ gamer pc ... such a shame that a big talent like you are getting hampered by inadequate hardware
everybody ... donate 100 dollars each to him .... he deserves it !
the basics of good modern pc hardware for online shooters :
get a 1000 hz gamer mouse
get a 1000 hz gamer keyboard
get a 120 hz monitor with low response times
get a pc with as powerful cpu and gpu as possible
dont use cable extenders for mouse, keyboard, monitor .... plug them directly into the pc

i use the unlock fps command
what is that and how can I use it?
My PC is not that bad. I have this:
AMD AThlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
2GB Ram
NVIDIA 8400GS
Keyboard and mouse both run ath 1000hz
This should be fine and smooth for this game, no?

Lecter ... that command is only relevant if you average more than 100 fps .... you average 80 which means that you only a few times will get more than 100 .... you'll probably see little or no improvement .....
but players with decent pcs like mine that average 400+ fps get a BIG improvement

everybody that has a weak video card including you, lec, should consider upgrading ...
a radeon hd 6570 costs only 50 euro, and averages 200 fps at 1600 x 1200 with everything set to max
i have one of these myself in a cheap 250 euro pc that i recently bought .... very good performance for the price ...

X=X=X=X=X=X=X=X is correct. If you don't intend to upgrade your video card, you should consider lowering your game resolution to 800x600 and disable some eye candy. Lowering the sound quality can also improve your fps rate. Almost everything has been said and recommended in this and the other topic: How to improve gameplay.
