Keyboard probs.

I have a logitech keyboard. When I boot up, about half the time I have no keyboard. Like I press keys and nothing. Num lock light lit up like always, but caps lock key won't light up or anything if i press it. No keys work. So I gotta look like a retard and climb under my desk to unplug and plug my keyboard back in. It doesn't matter which USB port it's plugged into. It only happens half the time like I said and I can't recreate certain situations. It just happens randomly.

I go to device management and see 2 instances of HID Keyboard Device. I right click and update... but seems like all is current.

Anyone know how to solve this annoyance?

(This is Windows 7 btw)

What Logitech and did you install any driver?

...

Otherwise it could be a Bios Option. You still have this S939 System?

...

The third is, just try another USB Port.

Re: Keyboard probs.

It's the keyboard that ive had for years I got from my uncle. A logitech g15. Just standard driver. The logitech shit wanted all kinds of bullshit.

Yes, still the mighty 939!

Doesn't matter what USB port. Hslfctge time it'll force me to replug. I can put it in the same exact USB port when it doesn't recognize during boot and it'll work fine

Mobo Type? Must have a look into bios.

Meanwhile, look if you find an option "Legacy USB Support" in Bios.

It's anyway time to upgrade your heater smile

I bought an ThinkCentre M700SFF,  2 years old for 130.-$. Another for 150.-

I5-6400, 256GB SSD, 8GB Memory and still 1 year warranty left.

...

With the money for the electricity due 1-2 year you can upgrade your pc for free.

And a new Windows 7 Pro license you can get for 5$ and Windows 10 Pro for 10$ or you could upgrade it for free with your current key.

But as i know you, you would still keep your mighty S939 as reserve. I have also still some of them smile

Re: Keyboard probs.

Blah! I literally JUST graduated last weekend. I have no job & no money to spend on a PC. Plus, my car needs a new fan for the sir conditioning or whatever but that's besides the point.  I just want my PC to work normally! *wimpers*

My laptop is newish with win 10 and ryzen and latest everything but I used it for school and even though there's no more school, I'm keeping it clean and nice for professional stuff.

You can find plenty example with the same error with G15

They say, install driver.

Even if you install it, later you can disable the Autostart of the software.  But the driver wil run.

What do you mean not have the guts? It's not offensive.

I actually used to have those adapters for an even older PC.

I have to turn off & not do sleep or hibernate mode because we get random storms here. I'm not exaggerating when I say Central Florida is known as the lightning capital of North America. Storms pop up out of nowhere and especially during the afternoon/evening. Even though I have a UPS, I still like to keep it off when not using.

Re: Keyboard probs.

It is a common problem. USB keyboards and mice... some BIOS only detect/allow one keyboard and which one it takes, depends on which ports you plugged it.

For your case i would try to find the USB port which is scanned first at boot. Usually the ones in the backside of the case and usually the older version ones USB v2...

Or maybe you can use a USB dock on your desk.. so when it happens it will be easy for you to re-plug.

A module like posted above is fine too (USB > KEYBOARD)... but beware to plug it in firmly... and DO NOT damage the connector on the mainboard when u accidentally pull the wire!!!!

Re: Keyboard probs.

OH... disable legacy in bios if u can!!!! (depends on the USB hardware and OS but better disable it in case of problems)

In windows it is better to take out the USB keyboard and push back into another USB port. Windows will not update properly when u plug it back in the same one.

That keyboard you have from Logitech is actually a nice one... good keys! But this is surely ANNOYING indeed but not logitechs fault~!

A wise decision! I prefer hib mode over sleep mode. But in windows it can be a problem with some hardware.
