Re: Lightning makes my joystick light up... or possessed?

I dont knoe yhe powersupply model. I dont have any more. I dont unplug the powrer surhe protector. I just Start and shutdown and turn off my monitor and speakers. No burning smell or anything.

Every other electrical thing works fine. It just  may be a random fluke or whatever.

Re: Lightning makes my joystick light up... or possessed?

Ok look .............. if the lightning stuck your ring supply it would likely go out, blow a fuse or trip, if it managed to get to the back of you PSU it would kill it.  Switching it off and even disconnecting it from the mains will not help, think about how far that bolt of lightning has just travelled the potential that it has and the short hop through your surge protector is nothing.  It is more likely that what you are seeing is the result of EMF or eddy current from the potential or spikes from your supply due to lightning strikes at or near the sub station.

Surge protection is ok but they are usually rated (500v, 1000v) but lightning is much higher than this so you surge protection would be toast if hit by lightning smile

Hmm Ok. On the side of every PS is a label with the model number.  Mostly it's possible to find out everything about PS's.

A ATX type of powersupply always delivers 5 volt all the time when the powercord is plugged in, computer or no computer it doesnt matter. In Sunshines case its the switch on the motherboard that gets triggered for unknown reason.

In addition to what DinkW said, your computer or electrical grid may work as antenna. Lightning produces powerful electromagnetic pulse (EMP (or LEMP)) which travels via electromagnetic field. Some part of your computer or wires in grid are susceptible to it, so they behave like a receptor like here (in Russian, haven't found similar in English):

You can disconnect a power cable from your PC and check if that happens or not. If LED keeps lighting up, the reason is in electrical grid.
