Fascinating but highly illogical.
In this case I would suggest to have a full spectrographic analysis done.
An undectected fluxuation in the dampening fields could drain several areas of power, interfere with communications, block sensor readings including transporter locks, and prevent the operation of phasers and other large power systems.
If the dilithium crystals and the primary component in the warp drive engine is compromised it would cause the warp core to get unstable.
I also would suggest a full analysis of the gravimetric field around the warp bubble to exclude any faults in the primary systems.

Its surfing the waves. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory
There is a guy who is on the Science and Discovery channel (sometimes on news too) named Dr. Michio Kaku who always talks about string theory & maybe a month ago said something about that EM drive stuff. "Very promising" he said enthusiastically.
Hopefully someday we'll be able to do space travel in a reasonable time. Hopefully our lifetime!
Was a bit dissapointed when Obama shut down the Constellation program https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constellation_program
