Hey there, it has been a long time since my last post and I am glad you did not delete my account. :)
In spring I switched over to Win 10 involuntarily as it came with my new laptop.
In the course of that a problem instantly showed up: I have no issues starting the game like many others but
during map switch when the game changes to loading screen the display turns black while still playing the music.
I did not find an other way to exit this state as to log off Windows or restart. This also happens when going back
to the menu with the esc key. The problem seems to occur with every mod (e.g. tested with FH and desert combat)
and is not affected by video settings. It happens nearly 50% of the time and is so annoying I discontinued playing.
I did not find any thread on the net about this issue but someone describing the same symptoms but here it could be fixed
with lowering resolution that does not help me unfortunately.
Have you ever heard about this or even faced the same? Any idea appreciated.
Happy bloody sunday!

Set the following files to compatibility (Windows XPSp3) and admin mode. (Sometimes also as Windows 7 is workin or XPSP2 or NT5).
> Bf1942.exe
> Blackscreen.exe
Then it should work.
...
Haha, I didn't know there is a blackscreen.exe inside the game directory, good idea though.
But unfortunately no change. I patched my cd version to 1.61 and replaced the original bf1942.exe
with the gamespy exe from this forum. It wouldnt start at all with the original (no-cd) exe.
Bet there is a Problem with the widescreen exe.
...
What problem? Could be again the AV which is scared bec. this file isn't used 100'000 times worldwide.
If the AV or IS blocks it, just unblock it manually.
If you still are unsure about a file after you unblocked it, test this file with 43 OnlineScanners here:

I guess you allready activated DirectPlay?

Try to install again. Check your PM.
1. Install the latest Windows 10 drivers for your computer - chipset, graphics (external and onboard graphics if you have any), audio, lan, wifi etc.
(if you don't have drivers for windows 10, you are screwed and should roll back to win 7,8)
2. Update DirectX 9.0c components. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa … aspx?id=35
3. Uninstall and install the game. Set winxpsp3 compatibility on bf1942.exe + run it as admin.
