Game crash windows 10 startup

So I just installed bf1942hd on my wife's computer and when I go to start it, the screen goes black like the games starting and then goes back to desktop.

I made sure direct play is on.
I tries changing the video.con files because her laptop doesn't have 800x600 on the card

Not really sure where to go from here.

Or you can make a direct connect Link to Simple Server.

Add " +restart 1 +joinServer 194.88.105.25:14567" to the BfLink

(Before you start the game > go into video.con in custom profiles and set there your nativ resolution from you monitor/Laptop)

Like this you avoid the Menu Resolution 800x600

Blackscreen is run as admin, I have already changed the resolution in video.con to what the display is set at.
I don't think I have an option to set a custom resolution

The game menu can only launch in 800x600 unless you make a binary patch. There are people that have done this before. Try sending a PM to henk.

You have to use Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) program and add 800x600:

Im guessing you mean renderer.setFullScreen 0

Windows mode should work with 800x600 so only propably thing left i can think of is the refresh rate, can you check that its the same setting both in windows and game.

You know, some Laptops have not anymore 800x600, could be also some new Monitors.

But you can add it manually.

Problem solved

If his computer cant run a window in 800x600 then its something else thats wrong.

However its darn near impossible to know how much a random guy posting in a forum knows about computers, so thats why i try to go the simplest route possible to try and solve the problem.

Yes I have been reading quite a few threads trying to figure the issue out, I did set the game to windowed mode, and I also tried the modified .exe from the other forum, and I changed the video.con files to match the pc's settings, the pc is set to 60hz refresh and does not have 800x600, its a laptop with an intel onbaord graphics card.

Additionally I did also try using a direct link to skip the startup, no dice.

Yeah I followed the steps and her computer says custom resolution not supported on integrated chips. I don't think the stars are going to align on this one boys

I can't believe that.

Have you the app > "C:\Windows\System32\CustomModeApp.exe"

If not then you can set the direct connect link as i wrote it in Post 2.

It works, because the game connects directly to the server and avoid the Game Menu.

You won't be able to press escape in the game without crashing the game.

So you have the only option to adjust the configs manually. Keys, bindings, Resolution.

Maybe it's about time to tell us your wife's laptop specs and OS since everybody here had already posted several possible solutions on why Battlefield 1942 doesn't run properly on your wife's mobile rig, and with such limited information you gave beforehand it's so difficult to diagnose the problem.

edit: also if using win 10, try install the game in some other folder than the usual. there was something odd with read/wright rights, yada yada voodo kinda thing
