The use of bugs: a hot debate

I see a lot of people whining and pointing fingers unjustly at players who bug.

Well, know this: the best players in the game, at least in infantry, are also the best buggers.

Take for example lachesis, aka Haroon. This dude uses every single infantry related bug at his advantage, but is he a cheater? Does he use accuracy, map hack, or fog hacks? Certainly not.

The equipment and setting he has for gaming is amongst the best (Razor Lachesis mouse), as you can see in his mouse handling. As for bugs, he uses them all as I said. Prone and shoot bug, sand bag crouch and prone bug, wall hugging, and excessive crouching and proning while moving from cover to cover. Anything that can reduce the surface of his hitbox, he uses.

He probably uses a few macros and presets for strafing as well, wouldn't be surprised. And in my book, he is classified as hands down the best all around infantry player in the game. He is also a beast at tanks and is a most lethal opponent in this department as well. Don't really know about his dog fighting capabilities, but I'm pretty sure he's amongst the elite there as well.

So then, is it a crime to bug? Why is it seen as something which has to be prohibited like a "true" PB hack? Why such unjust treatment for an element of the game which has been present since the beginning and that couldn't be removed by beta testers (and still to this day it cannot be removed, as it is hard coded in the BF1942.exe).

Debate here.

Re: The use of bugs: a hot debate

Everyone can do what he does, for month-2 of practice, everyone could do same and it would be just a bunch of people playing inf, but jumping like rabbits...no fun, real pros concentrate on aim, to hit a man down with 2 bullets, thats the skill, not some ctrl y behind sandbag

Never seen him in tanks, but i think he is nothing special in tanks,
and are you some kind of fan of him, you mentioned writing a book? Get a life man.

Well, something tells me that everybody's not so interested in making this debates as hot as you want it to be because of the author that came from nowhere and offered to discuss it with him, despite the fact that he introduced himself and represented his objectives before.

It's not because u can that u should or that we all have to tolerate it.
That's all I have to say about it.

Thanks for making me smile due your comment about Lachesis being a beast in a tank and being amongst the elite in the air smile

I agree with Denny, I didn't know Lachesis had groupies.

Re: The use of bugs: a hot debate

LOL.

lachesis beats anyone from liga on ground or in a tank. Guaranteed. Is that not why he is banned from there? For being better than everyone else? He even beat Butcher which in my book was top 3 infantry of the game.

It's not lachesis. It's Black Mamba.
I didn't know lachesis had fans. smile He seems a good player from the videos he made, I never seen him playing but some other players know him. I'm aware he played for GUN clan and came from Secret Weapons Demo scene.

Re: The use of bugs: a hot debate

lachesis was good i think but he used bugs all the time. And as far as i know from other games bug using is the same like hacking. No discussion about that.
And btw mr. fan i think ultra from pas42 beat him all the time in inf and tank wink

Tell me then why it wasn't removed from the game in a patch? Why was it left there for people to use?

Bullshit.

Don't tell me EA doesn't care about this old game anymore, they just released a free patch via the Origin platform and could have addressed the problem in that new patch, but they didn't.

yea, they've rereleased it with at least 2 known exploitable bugs in dedicated server
that was also on purpose because they care

they just took the old source, didn't change a thing except version and origin integration

The best thing that EA can do for us, veterans, would be providing the support of updated PB back.

Why should they put time (money) in a game without getting any profit? Isn't it more intelligent to employ their programmer in a project which is worth it? Companies have the aim to get money and their programmer are their resources. It's logic.

And maybe this problem is not easy to handle because the engine just sucks. Who knows?

Do you think they will patch it because they like us?

Bugusing is like cheating and glitching for me. It's just dirty playing.

I'm sure tuia could fix the EXE to remove the bugs, after all he pushed the player limit to 128 which is very remarkable. What else could he do?

Re: The use of bugs: a hot debate

I am not sure how it works, but afaik you need the rights for the game to get the code. Once you have the code some programmer would patch it for sure. But EA is not willing to sell the rights for this game. I have no idea why.

Pretty much what tuia did, and he released his patched EXE for the server player limit fix on public forums such as BF Mods.

So you think that there is something like "enable_bugs = 1" in .exe code? I think nobody will be able to fix them even having game source code.
Yeah, and it's just terrible to meet a glitcher (I haven't met them since I've stopped playing in BF league and GBZ server has died, heheh), so we should start fixing bugs immediately.
Game executable has a lot of other cool things which could make the game much nicer but they don't work.
P.S. Kobe sucks?

wrong
Best players are those players who have the best teamplay. No matter if inf , tank or air.
It's still a team game. Any "top" clan player will agree with me.

No its not, but its lame to use the bugs in the game for your own advantage.

And, btw, "good infantry player" means to be a usefull inf on any map.
No team needs those Stalingrad-/Berlin-players.
