Interessante Spiele bisher

Mexiko hatte es in der Hand. Die erste Halbzeit lang spielten sie brillant und liessen den alt aussehenden Niederländern kaum Raum, aber die zweite war einfach zu schwach.

Robben hingegen ist bei mir nun auf der Liste der unsympathischen Spieler ganz weit oben.

Costa Rica hat den Sieg verdient. Die Griechen, eine Stunde lang mit einem Mann mehr, konnten den Vorteil nicht nutzen. Daneben das nicht gesehene klare Handspiel des Griechen und der ersten Halbzeit, welches eigentlich einen Penalty für Costa Rica hätte geben sollen. Andererseits hätte der Schiedsrichter Manolos in Minute 72 genauso gut die rot Karte geben können.

USA plays Belgium tomorrow. Who is expected to win?

From what I've heard around here is that USA wasn't expecu to win anything lol. Not even there coach expected it. I guess he did a interview awhile ago and said he would be happy if they even qualified to go down there. So I guess they are doing much better than expected lol that's so sad.

The coach is just being realistic. He has no US spirit like "yes we can everything"... USA was lucky that Ghana and Portuagal sucked. But they play with heart and that is why i think USA can win the game with a bit luck. Belguim has a lot of good player from top teams though. You are such a big country and you had a WC in your country 1994. Where are all the kids who started playing football at 1994?

USA is getting better, since soccer is becoming more popular in the US, and the country's population is big. On a good and lucky day, they can beat almost anybody, and their world rank is currently 13, which is pretty high. In the old days they were weak, and this keeps sticking in the media for some reason. Sometimes there isn't a big difference between winning and losing in soccer - underdogs sometimes beat the strong teams. USA is currently roughly comparable to an upper average team from Western Europe or South America, which is pretty good.

I don't think USA is upper average but they are not bad.

The whole team is only worth about 58 million. Messi is about 120 million worth.

And FOOTBALL has become more popular since 1994 when the WC was there. The strongest team was in 2002 i think, when they almost kicked out Germany.

Which is very good, but like i said, Ghana and Portugal didn't play their best football. A WC depends on many things... for example, if you have many player from top teams which play a lot of matches because of CL or whatever, they can be too tired. Or when your coach suck or you have no team spirit, you can't play a good WC. In Europe it is much harder to qualify for the WC than in North America. Just watch the group of USA at the qualifiers.

And you put Russia here? Where are the stars from Russia. What I saw vs. Korea was horrible.

I think it will be better for us when it gets even more popular. Still nowhere near the top fav sports in USA. Maybe in a few years!

Yes, it was horrible. Actually, our team was first at the qualifiers (higher than Portugal) and there were a lot of expectations, but something goes wrong with this championship. Hence this championship is full of surprises, I bet on Algeria today and I also want to see USA team at the finals because they really deserve it.

Still not bad to be first even with Portugal. But nomax said all the time that Portugal is very bad because of the coach. They are on 4th place in the FIFA rankings... FIFA ranking doesn't mean nothing in a WC.
Russia will be better till 2014, but i don't know if Capello is the right coach for this task. Algeria did a very good job, it is not a shame to be 3rd behind Algeria and Belgium. Against South Korea Russia started to play football after the Mistake. It was too late.
