JFK said we choose to go to the moon because it is hard. (Something like that). It was less about space but more about innovation. And just during those times with USA and Russia competing, technology grew so fast. Both countries helped the world more than they realised at the time. Even little things we don't think of like freezedried foods, smoke detectors, special baby food, scratch resistant lenses and even more important things like CAT sxans, MRI, and artificial limbs, and also water purification! . So competitive but helped make and inspire so many things that help us today!

Why dont they go and install a big telescope cuz there wont be any clouds, dirty, gases and other stuff that are affecting on telescopes on earth? Why dont they build some colonies up there if they can? Why don't they build space station ther and launch rockets to Mars and inner space from there etc. etc.

Why do you ask us? lol... It is just way too expensive and not worth it i guess and how do you know the clouds and everything are in the way? They still find some new planets all the time...

You would build a big station on the moon with a telescope and stuff? Who would work there? An astronaut has no idea how to use a telescope, he is no astrophysicist. Not everyone can be an astronaut... we just know too few about this to know if it makes sense or not.

I can tell you why, it's simply too dangerous there. Look at the craters on the moon, it get's hit by several pieces all the time because it doesn't have a protecting atmosphere like earth!
