Any of you who are interested in becoming combatant in our tournament, please send me a message.
As soon as we have enough participants, we will let you know where and when the tournament will take place.

The first session is going to be an open qualifying.
Those skilled and lucky enough will proceed to the finals in the knife pit.

Hey guys,
have you sharpened your knives already? We shall pull the Knife Tournament off then.
Let's do it next weekend. Saturday and/or Sunday, 17th/18th of February at 21:00 CET.
If anyone feels dissatisfied, tell us.

The first stage shall be an open qualifying.
Arena is the town square of St. Vith.
Axis vs Allied.

You have 20 minutes to amass as many kills as you can.
Watch your stabbing, teamkill means -score.

use knife only, wounding with guns or explosives -> disqualified.

refresh your HP and catch a breath in the APC's.

don't pick medic class, the codex forbids bandaging in the open.

don't mess with the trucks, driver's seat only for staff with APC licence.

After 20 minutes of the expected chaos, there is a scoreboard.
The top 4 scorers from each team (or 5, depending on the total number of participants)
qualify for the finals...

Very interesting idea of having a qualifying stage. If it is doable somehow, it should be everyman for himself, no teams whatsoever and you just try to kill everything that moves.

Maybe as a quick set up, add all participating players to one team and have one player in the opposite team as a spectator, then all kills, which will be teamkills, would give plus 1, instead of minus score.

Not a bad idea.
That would be like uuuz's reg test server, only noone could be in the "other team" there.
The spectator could also just not spawn.

Yes, that's valid indeed.
In fact, the entire map is usable. Players can go fishing if they like.
Well, of course it's recommended not to stroll too far away from the APC's.

Yeah, a good suggestion, we keep that in mind.
The host server, provided by -=TL=-FearofthedarkHU, has the reg-patch installed, by the way.

A free-for-all mode is available (uuuz has done some nice mods), but -
Battlefield 1942 is a team game, Axis vs Allied, such is it's credo and we want to keep it like that.

We start the coming weekend, Saturday, February 17, 21:00 CET.
If you cannot make it, don't worry, we intend do play more than one round, everyone shall have a chance to proof his/her skills.
On Sunday, February 18, 21:00 CET, you will have again the opportunity to join the tournament,
or you might want to play a 2nd round (in which case the better result will count).

Are registrations still open? How many players can join the qualifying stage?

Too bad it is not a free-for-all mode, teams can be unbalanced and some players might not qualify if, by chance, they are on the stronger team.

32 player slots are available, 21 participants are listed.
The server is located in Germany and is used as backup for Liga wars.
Also the most popular reg-patch is installed there.

Watch your slicing and stabbing! Teamkilling counts -2, suicide -2.
Perishing in the barbwire or being pushed by Maj.MerliN off the belfry has no effect on your score.
Please refrain complaining 'bout hit regs, handling with your kitchen knives is different.
If it turns out to be really unplayable for combatants from West of the Atlantic, we shall look for an alternative server.
But as mentioned before, this one is suitable for clan matches.

Ladies & gentlemen,

we finished the first rounds of the qualifying.
The battle was intense. In other words, it was quite a bit of work.

So, where do we go from here?
As you can see on the score board above, the highest score of each player is highlighted.
You may play as many qualifying rounds as you like, your highest score counts.
The 8 players with the highest scores may proceed to the quarterfinals.
It is obvious that it is very difficult to kick BF2024 out of his quarterfinal place.
In contrast, Darwahl has to improve his score in round 3 and/or 4,
else he might lose his quarterfinal place to a new, more successful player.

The quarterfinals, semi-finals and the final will be held in the Knife Pit, in classic duel, 1 vs 1.

I only ask because I tried connecting after yesterdays first match and I connected just fine, it was bulge,
