Once when you'll get tired struggling with Ubuntu+Wine and decide to reinstall the OS, try Fedora Linux. I have Wine Staging, it just works for me.

playOnLinux works great for me. never had this good regs. there is some options of settings on this program. do one change. try to play. undo the change. change another. after one two hours of doing some old school try and error it works.
