steps:
1. google some map with airspace definitions
2. find out how far it was from russian airspace
3. find out what's the usual distance for requesting entrance to an airspace
4. find out what's the order of communication with ATC of airspaces you're leaving and entering

there are strict rules so you should be able to find out if anything was out of ordinary

if ukrainian ATC saw that plane on their radars and their vector and altitude was ok, i don't think they had any reason to contact them

maybe if you made those missiles slower (not like 3x sonic speed), pilots would have time to radio stuff like "umm, there's something in our rear mirror, any idea what's that?"

i've read it was due to thunderstorms and they were in flight corridor for civilian planes (there's finite number of flight corridors over each area)
military planes don't use them

i was tempted to create an mp3 with silence but then i realized that it should contain communication with all the other planes in that airspace
