By the way, making uuuz colours available with bf42plus is done within a few minutes.
Download the dsound.dll from uuuz' github.com, copy it into your main BF42 folder.
On starting the game the dsound.dll will create the bf42plus.con.
Press your add buddy button several times to cycle through 4 colours, the default lime,
then dodgerblue, yellow, and blueviolet.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________
Buddies in lime only appear in the buddylist.con (...\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\Custom),
but i don't see much reason in editing this. Buddies in custom colours will be found in the bf42plus.con,
which can be edited easily.
Here's an excerpt from my bf42plus.con:
[buddycolors]
Blindschuetz = #c6a664
Elon Musk = olive
Chibi = #888800
Bugs-Sharpe = peachpuff
BabyIsDead = peachpuff
Ruff n Tumble = darkkhaki
Arwen = lightpink
lop|Zagros = darkkhaki
Pope, his holyness the = #d2b773
Note,
while i prefer editing the colours of my buddies after a gaming session in quiet, it also can be done quickly via console:
plus.buddycolor "-=TL=- Xberg" pink
plus.buddycolor Cpt.Karwsz #FAFAD2
Hello.
I wonder how many players actually use uuuz' feature: the buddy colours.
The best way to get rid of the enemy APC is to switch teams, spawn in it and blow it up.
Exactly this happened in Gazala, here.
The abandoned airfield was held by Axis with help of the APC,
all the attacks of a player named ecolo were repelled, i killed him several times.
Then ecolo switched from Allied to Axis, spawned in the APC, expacked it and disconnected.
What an unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Clever deployed APCs win maps, supporting one is worth it.
And yes, you shall get your kills.
Planes.
Nasty airmen. Some of them are just trained monkey loopers,
by all means, what was DICE thinking when they equipped the fighter planes with 15 bombs?!
Every honourable Rifleman has a hard time to replenish his ammo, while f °cken planes go rampage.
Anyway. The pro pilot is deadly accurate with every single load.
Planes.
The dedicated APC commander is vigilant and cautious, and has a close look on the map before changing position.
To evade and dodge planes is a demanding task, pretty exhausting indeed.
Support your APC by stealth, this saves energy and resources.
The APC's gunner position isn't always manned.
If it's up to you to be in position 2, don't friggin' shoot at anything that moves.
Don't give the position away. Think twice before opening fire to a plane.
In most cases you only have a few bursts with the MG to scare the crow away or feel its vengeance.
Goofs shooting at tanks with the APC machine gun should be court-martialled!
Positions 1, 2 and 3 are intended for a 2-man crew. Feel free to join and take over any of these positions,
but please listen to the APC commander.
Positions 4, 5 and 6 in the vehicle: Assault, AT, Medic, Scout - replenish your ammo and grenades,
get your morphine and bandage your wounds. Then go F5 F4 or F5 F3: let your APC know what you're up to.
Not every single soldier wears uuuz colours, and it is much easier to make decisions
without having to constantly count the comrades in the immediate vicinity of the APC with one eye...
Help the halftrack and it will benefit you.
Support your APC by stealth.
Do not negligently allow your spawn point to appear as an empty vehicle on the map.
Sometimes the truck driver is the only Engineer around and has to leave the driver's seat for repairs.
Armored Personnel Carriers have six positions, one should be manned at all times.
Have a quick look at the vehicle's health before leaving it.
F7 F1, probably the most ignored message. What a pitty.
APC commanders have many different tasks, more than you might think,
and some of them are only possible with your assistance.
As the driver of an APC only has very limited visibility, it could prove important for the team in many cases
if he can leave his seat for a few seconds, without revealing the vehicle's position.
Stay in the APC for a few seconds. Operate the machine gun or read the map,
while the driver/commander looks around a corner or secures a blind spot with a landmine...
Well then. Finally, you are truly a truck driver's friend when you do this:
Since the APC gunners are so easy to pick off, give 'em an extra chance with a small gesture.
Everytime before you leave position 2, bring the MG back on 12 o'clock.
I am absolutely serious when i say: this tiny little gesture can help win a map.

Ronald Volstad, a Canadian painter, did this great work for Dragon, plastic model kits.
Oh please, don't.
This is exactly the reason why i prefer Battlefield 1942 over any modern game:
The screen is not overloaded with tags and hints and stuff...
Please keep it this way.
The supply depot map is mostly meant to be used with mods or maps you aren't familiar with, to make finding ammo/heal easier or for players who are new to the game and don't know where to find these.
How about exploring?
noobs rushing blindly and not caring
They will run over landmines anyway, regardless of how big the tag is.
The mechanised troops in the German army are called Die Panzergrenadiere.
In the Second World War the Wehrmacht and the SS had them.
By the way, all our German Axis characters are Wehrmacht Sergeants (Feldwebel).
Easily identified by the shoulder boards.
This means we all are equal in rank.

So many players spawn into the APC and are like:
Oh, i am in a weird vehicle with a total stranger.
He's going 45 km/h and it's pretty bumpy. I better get out...
Silly boys, the truck driver is your friend, have faith in him.
Ok, I'm not saying you should trust him completely, but at least take a good look at where the journey is going,
before you have to walk halfway across the desert.
And don't worry, you will have your kills.
Go in packs, work together!
Make good and reasonable use of your F-keys.

Hi, m'name's Blind,
and i'm your truck driver for this map.
I could greet you like this or something similar, but you may have read that before.
The °| APC manual |°°° or often referred to as Blind's APC Bible was first presented under the topic of the licences.
The book is part of the learning material for certain licences, you know.
Now, here is a quiet corner to recite some more from it's content.
Have a clear view of the map.
Committed team players are recommended to mark their squad with uuuz colours.
Each member in your platoon has a role.
Get an overview of your group's abilities and make your decisions dependent on the success of your comrades.

uuuz colours
The map above shows the Tobruk Axis APC with a crew of 3.
Please note that the squad consists of 6 members, but has no tanks assigned.
The original buddy colour "lime" is best for crew members.
the gunner/guard
pos 2 not visible on the map at that moment, pos 1 defines vehicles' colours
the driver/commander
wears an inconspicuous colour,
as a spawnpoint easy to find on map anyway
the Joker
dismounted crew (sniper, expacker, zooker, etc)
The infantry of the platoon:
regular trooper
(yellow on the picture above: reporting)
has a kit appropriate to situation,
works in tandem with the Joker
specialized infantry
they are often AT or Engineer,
and should be capable of transitioning quickly from attack to defence and back
elite infantry
(none around on the map here)
have a look at what they are up to,
often worth supporting them
etc.
This Tobruk scenario here has no elite tankers on in Axis team, and no tanks available for the platoon.
I would like to refer you to: Chapter III. 2 a) Armored columns
Oh come on, dude.
Stay on topic please.
The vehicle might be a halftrack, a Sd.Kfz. 251 Hanomag,
but it's no APC, it's a tank buster.
By the way, the gun is a PaK 40, as we know it from Liberation of Caen.
We need the APC's to have flak cannons.
Well, cannon or troops. This one isn't an APC either:
Wisdom from an old Midway veteran:
True, tuia.
There's an extra chapter in the APC manual dealing specifically with planes.
The anti-air MG of a medium tank combined with the MG of the APC can do pretty well against those nasty planes.
Well, make it 2 MGs, this might not be enough against pro pilots,
but at least the average fairy can be scared away.
Oh, and probably there's even a caring pilot in the team who deems a convoy worth more
than a single vehicle to protect.
Anyway.

Benefits for the tanker with an APC in the immediate vicinity:
the additional wrench of the supporting halftrack - the APC driver is Engineer in 95% of cases
increased chances of survival in the event of sudden air strikes
infinite ammo
Arriving combat area, the column breaks up, the mechanised troops get out of the APC, clear the area and backup the tank.
Tankers are commanders.
Once the leader of the group, the spearhead, has an overview, it's time to regroup.
Distribute your squad with the F-keys.
Let the troops heal and reload, go F2 F7, F6 F5 when in need of wrench or ammo.
Go F4 F4 or launch a next charge.
Advancing like this should get the opposing team into dire trouble.
And don't worry, you will have your kills.
If you have more than 1 tank on the main combat line, have a close look at your partner tank and at the APC.
Form a wedge, have the support truck in the back, pronged with two tanks working in tandem.
Deploy available SPGs (Wespe, Priest, Sexton) behind or next to the APC: infinite ammo and a wrench.
If the commander of a self-propelled gun (SPG) is too busy and focussed on a target -
the Gunner of the truck (all praise Xberg !) reliably warns you of any possible threat. F7 F4, F6 F6
Remember, normally an APC is operated by a crew of 2, when things turn ugly the SPG can back off while the APC keeps attacker busy.
Make good and reasonable use of your F-keys.

P.S. find a nice uuuz colour for your armored column buddies: HTML Colours
Considering the fact that APCs are spawnpoints, one could argue to treat them like ships.
But i guess 180 seconds would do it.
Hi there.
It seems that the developers back then wanted to add some disadvantages to the Tiger.
Only well trained tankers should make good use of it.
Armor and gun are superior to all allied tanks.
Battlefield 1942 was intended to be balanced, so the mighty Tiger tank got two features which make him weaker:
1. The wobble bobble thing.
A main battle tank with 58 tons won't behave like that, yeah, silly decision with ridiculous effect.
By the way, in World War 2 the Germans had their tankers make a Schießhalt (stop for shoot).
Well, i take it for a Sherman it was recommended also.
Good armor piercing hits right out of the movement were mere luck in reality, i suppose.
2. The other nonsense they did to the Tiger is how to aim with it.
Compared to the PzIV it's exactly the other way around, here:
Caen, a few minutes before.
Taking APC, running me over and into my landmines.
F off, asshole.
... players? No politics
Hi.
Did you old fool really think, they would respect your wish?
Well, the only thing we can choose in this life are our friends
we can pick our neighbours if we're lucky.
We cannot choose our familiy or nation.
Hard to find any unbiased person on this Earth.
Cheers
Oh hi Ruff.
How nice of you. A tanker showed up right in time.
There we go.
Armored columns from the base to the outposts should be common.
Go in packs, work together!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
This friendly teammate is Engineer. His backpack contains much useful stuff.
Have you given him an uuuz colour, yet? How about #46AD7C, Ocean Green ?
Your Engineer 1 by car is supposed to clear landmines ahead of you.
He may also decide to stay behind the armored column, wrench-ready.
Having one or even two of these friendly supporters in your pack is very useful in every respect.
Tankers are commanders.
They decide over the speed of an armored column.
The tank advances as the head of the pack, it'd be like cars and the APC as flies 'round a horse butt.
Clever tankers, when not engaged, have an eye on the supporters.
And don't worry, you will have your kills.

The next paragraph is about Engineer 2 with APC, the colour is the good old German Sandgelb, #d2b773.
By the way, here's a useful page for HTML Colur Codes

The German Bureaucracy (2024):
How to drive an APC on SiMPLE
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hello comrades,
i am Blindschuetz, and i'm your truck driver for this map.
I could greet you like this or something similar,
and in the following I would like to quote a little from the book pictured above.
M3A1, Hanomag and Ho-Ha are halftracks, armored personnel carriers: APCs.
These type of vehicle was designed to bring troops into combat.
And exactly this is the main goal of every dedicated truck driver in Battlefield 1942.
Please keep in mind, this duty won't be awarded with points. APC drivers barely make any kills,
taking flags is the task of infantry and tanks, the APC better stays behind.
The truck driver's true score is not shown in his line on the scoreboard,
instead, it is represented by the score of those team members who are able to take advantage
of what they are offered.
Medals of your team's heroes and the victory at the end of a map brighten up a truck driver's mood.
Together with a nice pint of beer of course.
Cheers
Yes, Paul Baumer is right.
Let a mapvote set the next map is a really good idea, but -
the problem is that there are and always will be players who either don't care or simply are not aware
to set a more appropriate map as next in time.
The current system could be fine, but would require more participants.
Bots don't vote.
Edit:
Yes, make a poll.
I guarantee you, it will be like 20 : 5 for the old system.
P.S.
As for me, i also don't really like to change a map in the middle a game.
But being stuck on Iwo Jima with 10 other guys simply s*cks.
Yeah, you're right.
It's quite unsatisfying to just drop it after all the work we put into.
Let's get it over and done with.
Skip the quarter-finals and continue straight away with the semi-finals.
BF2024/tragic and 3 challengers needed for the Knife Pit.
How about the weekend around May 18th ?
Oh well, since there is no more interest in the tournament we shall close it now.
Blame Zagros.
BetMan won.
Cheers
Welcome back, Rose !
You may ignore one word on your licence, i made it in your absence.
The German bureaucracy's over diligent, you know.
Hi Darcano & Mille.
Please allow me a few words on this.
The question is pretty SiMPLE to answer and Darc, you already knows it:
It depends on who the rule breaker is and how serious the effects of the broken rule are.
I take it Darcano is referring to BALLBREAKER's special forces tactics on Market Garden.
Silly BALL loves to take a car and cross the river Rhine with it. His favoured role is the Allied saboteur.
The road at the South end of the stone bridge, next to the bunker is landmined and trapped with scattered expacks.
Sometimes it even happens he can take over a Panzer IV from a confused whoopsie tanker.
Oh well, BALL is the ambush bot and can be good for a little mini game, right ?
Every average skilled player can outmaneuver his traps and can get an extra kill then.
Whoa whoa... it's 2024.
So what?! It's something between 1942 and 2042.
Colored buddies would be awesome and help a lot for wars.
Yeah, obvious.
But an even greater benefit for public gameplay.
There are still a few players around who are interested in tactics,
2 or 3 extra colours would definately help in addition to the F-keys.
