I have looked around a bit for a solution to the "alt+tab" crashing, but havent found any solution yet.
It is some specific setting with win 10, im thinking power saving because cpu goes down to zero, but in win 7 and earlier bf42 always use a whole cpu core even when alt+tabbed. There must be a way to get around this behaviour.
edit: later same day when i alt+tab the resolution got stuck to 800x600 such annoying game this is.

I found some more info, its like windows "pauses" (or sleepmode) the game somehow, cpu goes to 0 and i found this.
one or more threads of BF1942.exe are waiting to finish network i/o

i had a kinda weird move before when i played more, kinda flip the plane so your attacker (most of the time) flew in your wreck (hello CC hehe..)

This is wrong explained from me, the game doesnt really crash. Whats happening is that i cant get back into the game. If it wash a real crash, then i would be dropped from the server, but that doesnt happen. I can check the server and there is no problems.
So the game still running but i cant "get to it", this means i dont get that fault message for this case as its not really a solid gamecrash.

Oh nice! Hopefully it will solve the crashes that occur quite often when I tab out.
It still does that for me occationally, but there is a catch, seems that if i have played for a while (maybe 10 minutes?) its less prone to crash when tabbing out, whereas if i join and tab out in 5 min or less its almost a certain crash.
I will see if i can isolate what is going on in the background, but i dont have any big hope for success, this game is notorious when it comes to crashing, even when it was released for free on origin it crashed for some players in the "default" state.

huh, weirdest thing, today it just started working perfectly, ingame an all 
. Im using the amd equivalent "radeon relive" (stupid name) with a rx 570 card. I was going for nvidia this build, but then this card popped up on sale and so here i am, stuck with amd again. You can make a "recording" thread if you want to compare some different record settings and such. I mostly just glad that i can record without lagg, and that i can actually read the chat text without sticking my nose up the screen

If your battlefield 1942 crashes alot, here is one of the things that can help with the problem, i remember doing this on my old win 7 computer and the game is superstable on that computer.
Now i have a new computer with windows 10, and i had totally forgot about this until i found a rapport in the logs. If your game crashes alot, you can also do a search in your computerlogs, type computer management in search bar (or right click on the icon "this pc" and click Manage) then event viewer/ windows logs/ applications then the action button and press find.
Search for BF1942.exe and see if you get any results. If you find an error, you can mark it with mouse and press Ctrl+C to copy them as to google on the codes. I found a hit on the "Exception code: 0xc0000005" . I took some pictures to illustrate the process, its not very hard and with some luck the game will run better afterwards. computer may need a reboot for the changes to take place.

I can use avc H.264 or hevc H.265 in the recording settings, but so far i mostly used the H.264 with frame Rate 30 and bit rate 20. framrate gets capped anyway i think? The H.265 is okey for watching tv shows but maybe not so much for recordings, its harder to edit afterwards i think?
edit: for some reason the start/stop recording is wonky from ingame with bf42, only works when it feels like it.

I'm currently installed Windows 10 (not activated yet) on a separate drive and doing some testing, and what I do not like was TOO MANY bloat appeared on Start Menu which to me was unnecessary like "Candy Crush", the persistent M$ ads like "Onedrive" cloud storage, and more importantly the Search Bar that ties to Bing despite i'm typing the name of file/s that I have to search it on my local storage yet it gives you online search results!!!
I'm gonna wait Ubuntu 20.04 to be released this April as it completely drop that Amazon Web App thing that holds me back to upgrade from 12.04.
Yeah i saw the same on a friends laptop, however i didn´t get all that "blinking" stuff when i did a update from win7, i cant say for sure, but it might be because i have the enterprice version. It seems logic tho, that they would cut out some of the bling in a working environment version.
