BF1942 server file (v1.612) is fixed against the 2 known remote crash exploits. I'll link it in some minutes.

And there are new servers besides EA servers there now

EA Games released a Windows Server file along with the game, so anyone can host a dedicated server, but only on Windows.

this seems nice, but hope that we do not lose mods/admins/players used to play on current server. will tuia be able to administrate new SiMPLE on Origin as well? i do not see much fun playing with absolute noobs and with tks all around, not saying i am not a noob wink

Actually, I don't think there will be a SiMPLE server v1.612, because I believe EA Games won't release a Linux dedicated server file.

Yes.

Hi HalloweenWeed,

Latest update is v1.61. Nevermind, v1.61b or v1.6.19 names, it's just confusing. There is BF1942 version 1.6 and 1.61, simply put. smile
Your satellite internet connection is not suitable for multiplayer. Because of the instability, you get the "warning: connection problems detected" messages.
For tips and recommendations you can read a BF1942 guide, if you have the time: http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/466245-battl … faqs/21120

I'm going to patch the Windows server file tomorrow against the server crashes.

I don't have a Windows dedicated server box to host the BF1942 server. I tested in my home computer.
If they release a Linux dedicated server file, it'll be possible to host a SiMPLE 128 players slot server.

No. BF1942 Free (v1.612) is installed at C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942. The other one, BF1942 v1.61 or v1.6 installs by default at C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942.

You are banned from the server. You evaded your ban, in the first place.

I believe there is nothing new. When starting the new BF1942.exe, it launches Origin, that's all.

I hope they release a Linux dedicated server file. You can host your own Windows dedicated server v1.612.

#3043 Re: BF1942 Discussion » Battlefield 1942 FREE on Origin! » 2012-11-05 20:49:52

It installs at %PROGRAMFILES%\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942, so you can have both games installed.

Hmm... Looks like they've made a different client and server version, so you can only play through EA servers. Let's see if it's possible to patch it.

The key generated is not a valid one, so you can only play in No key servers, right now. Before you uninstalled your BF1942 game, you could have easily copied your original key from the Windows registry. It's stored there without encryption. Anyway, I will update your keyhash. What was the playername you used?

#3051 Re: Feedback » Planes on Omaha Beach » 2012-11-02 11:46:54

I don't know how you can add a parachute spawn point, if it's not already present.
I don't think it's possible to add ladders server-sided. They would be there, but they wouldn't be visible.
Maybe reduce the number of grenades in Omaha Beach, but it would be harder to take out the tanks?

#3052 Re: Feedback » Planes on Omaha Beach » 2012-11-01 20:23:21

It's not possible to add another spawn point server-sided, only change location of the spawn points. I'll take a look at Omaha Beach map.

Yes, he is permanent banned on all servers. His internet connection was from Japan.

Download Battlefield 1942 v1.6 Patch and execute it.
Donwload BF1942 v1.61 no CD and widescreen fix. Unzip in your BF1942 directory preserving directory structure. You'll be prompted to overwrite BF1942.exe file and Mods folder, click yes to all and you're done.

He is banned, now. No sweat.

#3060 Re: BF1942 Discussion » Graphics settings / level of detail » 2012-10-27 11:41:51

renderer.globalLodRadius 1

LOD is the Level of Detail. As objects get further away from the camera, the number of polygons rendered by the graphics card will be gradually reduced without any noticeable reduction in detail. This improves performance, particularly with large numbers of objects on the screen. The Global LOD Radius setting determines the radius around the character (imagine a bubble) beyond which LOD starts to reduce (at a rate based on the scale factor below). The higher this setting - given a constant (non-zero) scale factor - the higher the graphics details on objects, but the lower your fps. Increase this setting if you want crisper, more detailed objects around you, but at the cost of some fps. The default is 1, which is the lowest practical setting.

renderer.globalLodRadiusScaleFactor 5

Having set the radius beyond which the Level of Detail begins to drop (see above), the LOD Radius Scale Factor setting determines the rate at which polygons are stripped from objects the further away they are from the camera outside this radius. The default is 5. Values lower than 5 decrease LOD decay (meaning higher graphics quality), values higher than 5 increase it (meaning lower graphics quality). If you want the absolute best level of detail, at the expense of some fps, choose 0, which means no reduction in LOD regardless of distance. The default 5 is a good balance, but experiment with slightly lower or higher values (e.g. 4 or 6) to see which increases your fps at the cost of minimal, if any, noticeable reduction in graphics quality.

renderer.mipmapbias -5

Mipmap bias determines how clear the textures appear. The lower the value, the sharper the textures, with values ranging from -8 to 14. Experiment with different values (note however that values above 0 typically strip away too many textures) to see the impact on visual quality and performance. Note this line doesn't exist in the Videodefault.con file by default, so you'll have to add it if you want to set a custom mipmapbias level at startup.
