All correct. I would like to add that FHSW Europe community decided so create an additional modification of FHSW last year, so now it is running on their server (I posted the link to Discord above). Japanese servers are running the original FHSW

This is all you need – quite populated server for FHSW which is FH successor. FH itself is forever dead for years

As far as I know, there is no fix, and it has been happening on all Windows versions, GPUs, screen resolutions and so on. So this may be the easiest solution available

I'm using a .bat script for restoring the resolution with a shortcut in taskbar, so it's a one-click solution in case the game screws it up after exit (happens not every time but quite often, Windows 10, bf42plus installed).

Very simple, in fact it's just like a button "restore resolution"

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that line isn't present in my Controls.con at all, I only have these lines in the file:
This is correct, you need to add that line manually and then set "read-only" in the file properties
There was something different about my settings on my old PC, because the text looked much better there at the same resolution
Did your old PC (not the game) have same screen resolution as the new one?
Chat looks different depending on graphics card as well. On my laptop I can select between Nvidia graphics and integrated Intel one, and the difference is significant

This happens due to resolution/aspect ratio and can't be fixed because the game is very old. However, you can try these options:
You can either use
game.chatOutline 0command in GeneralOptions.con in your profile folder (set read-only for that con file after editing) which removes outline
or just a lower resolution.
I have smoother fonts with 1600 x 900 on 1920 x 1080 display. Difference in image quality isn't that big, but maybe for me only.

Sometimes sound gets distorted for no reason. It happened to me in the past on Windows 7, and it happens now on Windows 10, but quite rarely. Restarting the game helps in most cases

I doubt unlocking FPS can help to reduce the lag in any way. Vice versa, instead of limited load of 100 FPS your GPU will have to render as much FPS as it can without any limit

They will run over landmines anyway, regardless of how big the tag is.
I think after a short time it becomes clear for them how to use the tags. Default indicator provides no information about exact landmines location, so considering that they are hard to see on the ground, people just hope for luck and keep running (actually I do it too sometimes, when enemy is close).
Seeing "MINE" approaching right in front of you should help

I'm surprised to see that you select weapons with your scroll wheel but use the minimap zoom key. My brain doesn't understand :S
On my laptop "6" is too far from "W", so to select the wrench I have to use either the other hand or just mouse wheel. "N" can be hit with no problem

Landmine tags are absolutely worth it. Friendly landmines are always totally unnecessary pain in the ass since the indicator on the right side of the screen is uninformative and very often bugged. Getting kicked for noobs rushing blindly and not caring about surroundings makes no sense. I see no reason not to enable it and not to make it as a default server setting.
As a client side patch, it gives an advantage but not in relation to enemy, so in my opinion it can't be considered cheating in any way. Landmines are placed by teammates and not by enemy...
Exppack/medic locker/ammo crate/repair pad tags are useless even for new players, from my point of view

This is absolutely impressive work, and the way of implementation is surprising. I couldn't imagine that a single dll file in game folder can bring such complicated changes. Great job!
All of the mentioned in Readme fixes and enhancements work fine. However, now there is no "is no more" message in the centre of the screen after you die on your own or suicide

Anyway, it seems counterproductive to have any content check enabled.
Too much time passed since content check disappeared in BF1942, returning it under the current circumstances will speed up server death

Hotkeys don't work in bf42, automatic switch also.
Works for me with right Ctrl
