No idea. Since the stay-at-home order on April 1st, i haven't really gone out except for necessities or picking up some takeout. Just shit like that. I've been working from home for weeks, well before I got sick so it wasn't from there. None of the people I've socialized with got sick. As soon as I started feeling sick, I didn't see anyone.

Yes, It's a strange thing. An ex colleague of mine (& we both had advanced warning of what was possibly about to happen back in late Feb) who is immunocompromised took every precaution under the sun, way before any lockdown/stay at home order was issued here and still contracted it. He went nowhere, had no contact with anyone, yet still ended up in the ICU @ hospital. He is feeling much like you are atm, but has been told he is a very lucky chap. Hope you've been feeling better.

Yep I find the same problem as Goldie. I can never really play on the main server, way too laggy for me usually with 350 ping and even higher, even if it's only a 1/4 full. Usually kicked for high ping. :-(  RtR- S/W server my ping is usually less, but still not good most of the time. Sad, as I love this game. :-(

Jeez Louise, Z, if this really offends you that much you really need to take a break and play something like solitaire mate. I really can't understand why you'd report someone saying fu. I've copped it and worse before, I don't even bother to respond (let alone report it on here) Just chill mate, it's only a game, you are always going to come across dickhead players like this. Don't let them get to you.

I don't notice any difference but my ping has been crap since we had the fires here at Xmas/ New Year. Sometimes it's just impossible to play especially if there are a few in the server. Oh well, C'est la vie.

It's informative (and disturbing) to find out what is happening in all different parts of the world on the forum here. Probably a truer reflection of the problem than I would get from any main stream news source here in Australia. I just can't believe that here, no one (the state and federal governments) seem to have the balls to even commit to closing the schools, universities, pubs/clubs or even some sporting matches. Even moreso our international borders! Seems the mighty $$ rules all! Panic buying has just hit supermarkets and positive cases have started to rise significantly here in the last 24 hrs, Yet our government pretty much says 'lets just wait & see'. Fools!! If there is a chance of mitigating the spread of this virus here, they should be more pro-active and taking action now after seeing the toll it is taking in parts of Europe. I spent 22 years in the Australian Navy and 12 years in the Diplomatic Corp which entailed a hell of a lot of humanitarian missions to countries less fortunate than mine dealing with war, famine and disease. These current events are something quite removed from that. Whatever your beliefs, I wish all of you and your families/friends the best, stay strong.

I made a newer version of this map. I solved this problem by having some of the U.S. spawn points on the beach as parachute drops. That gives a great advantage over german base rapers, but I positioned so that it wont hurt Germans in the middle flag, since I made it so that the parachutes cant land near them (only on beach).    I also put two tank killing canons on the beach and one 50 cal facing the Germans.

Played on a server many years ago that enabled the Allies to parachute behind the rear areas of the German North flag. Pretty sure the map boundary was a little larger, and the buildings were able to be entered and used as cover to attack the German flag from the rear. It wasn't a bad mod provided there were the numbers playing in the server to make use of it.

Don't necessarily need Australia Day as an excuse for a BBQ & pissup. You can pop over for one anytime Piper :-) In our house, if the BBQ is lit it means there'll be cold ones in the fridge. Can't cook a barbie without a beer in hand lol.

Thanks Cartmanez, you hit the nail on the head. Australia Day & Anzac Day are very close to Australians hearts. Most of us Aussies celebrate Australia Day, others (blackfellas) see it as Invasion Day or a day of mourning. Wish they'd GTF over it!

Happy Australia day Piper, (so there are other Aussies that play BF42) , hope you have a great one, enjoy it mate. My plan for the day, family gets together, lamb, steak and prawns on the barbie, oysters and plenty of cold ones, head down the park for a massive cricket match with friends/neighbours and piss on until we all fall over, a typical Aus Day for us. :-) At least they give us the day off work tomorrow. lol.       P.S. Happy Birthday Goldie, hope you have a great day.

#24 Re: Off-Topic » Weather topic » 2020-01-07 01:20:34

Hi Arkos, I couldn't understand the lingo although I got the point (I think)? But I'll have a little rant anyway ;-) What they are showing on that program is no doubt correct and practical in that geographical area, which we would class as scrub. Our first peoples have practiced this in these areas for thousands of years. We have a much different environment and geography here in the S.E. Heavily forested gorges and mountains, most of it inaccessible as well as a great deal of infrastructure and small townships. During the cooler months here, we undertake firebreak restoration and backburning to reduce the fuel load on the ground as much as possible. There are 2 main causes for the current problem, climatic and political. Australia's south east has seen warmer temperatures and little rainfall over the last 4-5 years which has created drought conditions. This adds to the fuel load on the bush floor. The dry conditions, warmer temps and prevailing winds during the cooler months over the last 3 years have prevented us (Rural Fire Brigade and other services) from backburning and clearance in a lot of these areas. Now for the political side of things. The majority of the area burnt out during these fires are areas of National Parks. The Greens here in Australia, by political means have banned numerous planned operations to reduce the risk in National Park areas when they were most viable. The Prime Minister and state premiers were all advised of the potential risk of what we are currently experiencing waaaaay back in February 2019. The federal and state governments in their wisdom reacted by cutting back the Emergency Services budget even further!! Go figure. Our brigade (over the past 2 years) has received more $$ through public donations and fundraisers than government funding. An example, our brigade of 3 units (of 4 persons each) has 2 SCBA's between them and we are limited to 2 'O' bottles each in an event!!. I can tell you that is not nearly enough. We don't get payed to do this stuff, we do it gratis for sake of our community. I have a day job, I've spent most of my Xmas and NY away from home and family, stressing about them while seeing others lives and lively hoods destroyed. I was supposed to go back to work yesterday but have the rest of the week off. (I have great boss) :-) You would think a country like Australia would be prepared for something like this. We can't do much about the weather, but the lame ass politicians have a lot to answer for! And I agree with Paul in the vid. He's a member of one of the crews we were teamed with on the coast. He really is the most quietest of guys lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wpV3lHK90o

#25 Re: Off-Topic » Weather topic » 2020-01-06 23:49:17

You are not wrong Z. The fires here are that intense they are creating their own weather. In the last week I have experienced thunderstorms and lightning and even small amounts of rain created by the fire front. In my 14 years as a volunteer firefighter I have never experienced such phenomena and hope I never do again. Climate change? Who knows?? Our property is safe for the time being, the fires are only 8kms away and under control for the time being. It's a strange feeling knowing you are 100kms from home, defending someones property when your own property is under threat and being protected by another unit. I really can't praise my comrades enough. it's a tough time for all. If I knew how to upload some pics, I would.  https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-11-28/ … e/10561832

Thank you guys, appreciate that. Caught up on Xmas NY with the family, some sleep and managed to get a bit of time online yesterday but SW, RtR server was pretty much empty when I was on :-( . Back out into the field this afternoon, it's predicted tomorrow is going to be the worst day and judging by the weather we'll be rather busy. ( I wish the bloody tourists heeded the warnings not to come to the area, they are causing so many problems for the services), anyway, catch you all on the battlefield when I get back. :-)

Happy New Years all. :-) Hope you all had a great night and have massive hangovers accordingly. I'll be celebrating tonight (maybe). Unfortunately have spent the majority of the Christmas break fighting fires around these parts and we have been given 2 days stand down so hopefully catch you guys on the battlefield soon. (After I catch up on some sleep) ;-)

Jeez, I'm glad that Rak is an admin on Simple SW/RtR. I don't get on that much lately but when I do (in my time zone) there are often no admins on. The only one I ever really see is Raketenhorst, and he's usually straight on to any funny business in game. I've played alongside him a few times, and he is always one that is happy to work together as a team and doesn't play like your typical score whores! I have never seen anything suspicious in his gameplay whether playing with or against him. Keep up the good fight Raket. :-)
