This has happened to me a few times, including tonight on the USA server playing Liberation of Caen.
What happens is that everything seems normal, I enter a vehicle or other weapon (such as an anti-tank gun tonight) using the "e" command and things still seem normal, but when I "e" to exit all my movement is severely sluggish. It remains sluggish all the time I'm on foot, but if I again enter something with the "e" command everything seems normal again until I exit again, at which point it again becomes sluggish.
This situation will continue until I'm killed, but when I re-spawn everything is back to normal again, regardless of whether I'm on foot or in a vehicle or other weapon. After this the problem no longer occurs for the rest of the game.
It sounds somewhat like lag, but I think it's something different and not network-related. I also think it's not something with my computer, at least nothing external to the game, because once it starts to occur I can control it by being on foot or not.
Has anyone ever seen this problem before?
I have seen this happen myself and have never found a way of resolving it and I can't any real reason for it, you just have to wait until you die and as you say it all goes back to normal.
Had same too. IDk what causes it.
Is it possible there are too many programs running in the background and the delay is triggered by something like the old DOS menu changes way back? I only remember this from EMS systems having lag when you went into one menu from another. I am NOT a computer person by any means but I do remember sitting in front of those CRT screens waiting for the menu to return..........And it always did odd things until you closed the Program and then re-opened it.
how much ram do you have (perhaps one stick is bad?) ; what type of video card. do you have same problem when you play on MG or ATF (weee, free segway plug)...
or...turn off the turtle prn downloads while you are in game.....
This is caused by bad internet connection. I don't know what, ping, losses or whatever but that's it. I get it every time I play via my 3G connection.

Thats a GREAT point. The RAM could be the issue too.
As for the turtle prn........will leave THAT to Oscar!

server bug
maybe there is more then one bug like this, but for a server a soldier is kinda a vehicle to, so if it gets effed up and you die and respawn you get a new "soldier" vehicle. same when you like get into a jeep or something the "soldier" vehicle gets saved in like limbo until you get out of the jeep again.
I am with Bud and Pit it has to be a server bug. Whilst running around as inf you get the sluggish staggered movement but as soon as you get in a jeep its back to normal, if you get back out of jeep back to being sluggish again so this points away from memory or PC issue. Once you have been killed everything is back to normal again pointing away from memory or PC issues.
Thanks everyone for your replies. Since other people have seen this too I'm just going to chalk it up to a bug in either BF1942.EXE or the server (software, not necessarily the Simple server; I may have seen this playing on other servers as well). I will say that if it's a server bug it seems to be one that affects only one person at a time, because when I've brought it up in chat while it is happening I never hear anyone else saying they have the problem too.
Again, I don't think it's my hardware or anything else running on my computer, since I can kind of control it once it starts (if I don't mind staying in a vehicle or dying). And it is different than network problems. With network issues you tend to get video that is jumpy and sometimes can feel like your game is "rewinding" a second or two. With this issue there is just very slow movement.
So, we need to pay attention to when you leave a vehicle? hahah Nice heads up!! Thanks!
Finding weak spots as part of the tactics are we Monky??????
