Would it be possible to decrease the punishment for accidental tk's?
Maybe -2 instead of -3.
Maybe give 1 more TK before autokick?
Just got kicked from Omaha defgun was 32 32 0 and accidentlly TK's peeps on the beach whom I didn't see.
I only play Simple as a last resort due to the restrictive (in my opinion) TK punishments.
(I know, don't tk and you dont get kicked)
It's NEVER intentional.
I have seen several top players get kicked for accidental tk's and have to come back and start over.
Well, I usually don't come back for a long while, sometimes a few hours, some times for weeks.
Moon usually has more players because their rules are more friendly.
It's your server, your rules.
Want to keep top players? Flex a little.
Thanks.

Waff...that you? Do you mean "decrease" the punishment to -4? If we go with your suggestion, the tk will happen more frequently at -2? Also, can another admin weigh in on the use of ftk in console...does it work? I have never used it on this server...of course.. bots cant type so tks on bots will be the same on them..
If you "ftk" the individual will not have to wait the bonus punishment seconds for the team kill, he still gets the minus points. I use it occasionally, "ptk" adds seconds, that what I do to arrant artillerists.

Exactly
i think it is good as it is .. maybe stop raining def gun shells on to a flag when u cant see who is there .. just sayina
That's fine, enjoy the empty server.
How about this Waffen? If you don't like the server rules, go on back to MoonLamers. Sounds like your more interested in your own personal score than helping your team win, which is exactly the MoonLamers mentality. I'd take an empty server over Moonlamers any day.
Sorry you see it that way Flick. I'm interested in not getting kicked for noobs running over landmines and such.
Sorry if I came over harshly.
Enjoy.
yet u say u fire blindly with def gun and tk ???
if you dont come back for weeks its not on us .. that is your choice
if you are a truely decent player and your tk's are accidental then come back and keep playing .. it is the server that does the auto kicks
if we kick or ban you and your tk's were accidental .. that is what the server ban appeal section is for
How were you aiming at targets on the beach? Were you spotterless? Were you firing randomly, or at a familiar point in the clouds?
He knows how to play. One of the founding fathers of ATF back in 2002 when this game came out, and one of the best pilots. Our server doesn't have auto tks. Our server population is severely limited these days. 2 +2 = ??
Ships, artillery, Def Guns, even nades blindly thrown are almost entirely avoidable for tks by simply knowing who is there or by not firing until you do know. Ask any artillery group member whom served in WWII and the answer is blind is dangerous.
In the end, its only a kick here so the end result of the tks is not very damaging at all. But the change in play can make a difference upon return. Improving the concept of team play. Just my 1 cents worth.

aww don't shortchange yourself....throw in another penny so we can get the whole 2 cents worth...
blahahahaha good stuff my friend!

It's my personal policy that no matter how dumb the TK, if someone says sorry, I immediately ftk. I think the majority of players aren't even aware that ftk is an option.
Russ...you probably also count all your strokes in golf, even if no one is watching.. not many people left with that type of character!!!
Monky these character "flaws" are what keeps drawing us BACK here!!
Flaw me baby! FLAW ME!!!

I'm interested in not getting kicked for n00bs running over landmines and such.
I wish there was a fix for this too.
The world is imperfect.

I'm pretty much the same.
I don't think I have done the 'ftk' in years.

I believe it Oscar. You never forgive me either...

There is a very simple fix. Don't leave mines laying around where your teammates need to maneuver.
I won't even use the kit unless one is needed, then right back to the assault pack.
Not many players can lay mines correctly anyway and tend to seal off their teammates. Mix that with limited situational awareness of many players that probably think the red skull and crossbones means they are on some kind of killing spree.
Isn't that double point bonus time???
??? I thought you run over the skull and crossbones to collect gold coins?? That's what Mario told me...

Players get automatically kicked after the 3rd teamkill, unless they are forgiven (ftk) by the team killed player. It is a technical limitation in BF1942 server code, 3 TKs is the maximum number to effectively auto kick players by the server. Any number above that is not functional. Until it is patched, there is no way to lessen the punishment.
Players should be aware of using the ftk console command.
Huge thanks for the ftk reminder which I have only recently learned. There are times the tk is entirely unintentional, spawning directly in front of a moving jeep/tank etc. And once in a great while the ptk too....
I usually use if for players who I know and know wouldn't intentionally TK, and I ALWAYS use it if it was my fault - like it I jumped in front of someone that was obviously about to shoot.

Easier said than done. Many a-time I've incurred TKs for mines left in places only the enemy should be maneuvering. For example, one might think that when playing on the Allied side in Market Garden, it would be safe to mine the south side of either bridge. Never mind the fact that crossing either bridge takes you to the enemy uncap main, some fool (or bot) will drive over it anyway. Some games you can just tell it's not worth it trying to lay mines anywhere.

Given the server rules of not attacking the enemy uncap, mining the Market Garden bridge is in all ways a positive. It's when people put mines between capturable flags that it prevents your own team from maneuvering where they need to.

Crap, I meant PTK

Great example!
Another one, on Wake, if my team ONLY has the South Village, I will mine the road right after the beach. I make it obvious for our team, there is a trail of dots.
But someone on my side often takes the jeep from the South and hits the mines. Often this happens about 20 seconds before the enemy tank comes and takes the damn flag back.
When the mines are there, the enemy tank often hits the mines. My side often takes the beach and has a good shot at the airfield.
I know, common sense is not common.
:-D
