...

As i said in another thread. Since Haswell Chipset 1150 there's no Xp compatibility anymore, but with AMD or up to IvyBridge2 Chipset no problem.

Besides there are 3 files you have to run in CompatibiltyMode.

> Bf1942.exe
> Blackscreen
> PnkBstrA.exe

...

To change the resolution http://www.widescreengaming.net/wiki/Battlefield_1942 or use the new patch which allows widescreen resolutions.

If you use  the link, then set all Quality Settings in the game and a resolution first  and then save it. After, exit the game and modify the two needed *.con files.

FPS Lags? Also in SP game?

...

If you mean picture lags... then try once in game:

> Console > renderer.lockfps 300

If it's better, but still not good enough, try 500.

(Because you try this over console, the game resets the default settings each map. If it didn't help, you have nothing to do, if it helped, write this line into videodefault.con)

Remember, if you change this values, messages will be showed much shorter in game. But if it helps for the picture lags, then it's acceptable.

...

If someone with windows 7 has bader ping or jumping ping, als on windows XP, then you can dl TCPOptimizer and choose optimal settings, save and restart.

Keep in mind, all systems, specially vista and 7, but not for Windows 8.

...

Then you could use EasyToolz to set CPU Affinity by game automaticly.

...

Whyle playing games, set you IS or AV to "Game Mode" or "Silent Mode"

...

Re: Battlefield 1942 Win 8

Has anyone managed to run Battlefield 1942 in Windows 8 without crashes to desktop? What compatibility settings do you pick? Can you confirm there is no "Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5" compatibility in Windows 8?
I can't test Battlefield 1942 in Windows 8, because I have no access to a computer with Windows 8 installed.

For older machines with 2-4 GB Memory, windows 8 32 Bit runs very smooth.
